Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
no pricing info has been release, but IMHO if its 1500 more than the current version mitsu will be shooting themselves in the foot. As to when it will be released, rumors have it late late this year early next. Nothing official.
I would rather they put all their development dollars (which are very few) into developing oen good 2.0L, rtaher then trying to staisfy all the fanbois by offering a 2.0L for Group N, a 2.0L for wRC, a 2.4L for the US, and then I guess way kewl stroker kits for everbody that wants to build their Lancer ES up into an Evo.
One awesome 2.0L will do just nicely.

Any info on this?
Everything information wise on these engines say they have been designed in conjunction with Hyundai, Chrysler, and Mitsubishi. None of the reasons list WRC. Mabey the chassis and AWD components have been revamped with WRC racing in mind, but to say the engine was is false.
Here is just one bit of info on this engine:

Sorry man but your posts are SO lame. It's been said a million times before but I'm gonna have to repeat it for you: "Wait till the 4b11T come out and people push it's bounderies before you open your mouth and bash it"You say how 4G63 was build for racing and all of that and 4b11t is nothing because it was designed in conjunction with Hyundai and Chrysler so it has to be a pos. There are no real specs of the 4b11t yet just like I'm sure there weren't any info on the 4g63 when it first came out and how good it was going to be.
It takes time to prove something and to become a legend just like the 4g63. Therefore the 4b11t may make it or it may not, but only time will tell.
So stop talking like you've been to the future.
To conclude, 4G63 is a Legend and 4B11T is...only time will tell.
Are you serious, or being sarcastic? "Sleeve it, not a big deal": so mabey I am out of the loop so to speak with Evo guys, from what I understand, you guys regularly void your warrantys on regular basis. So, basicly, you are all for giving up your tried and true engine built specificly to race in WRC for an engine which will have to be completely built to be able to handle 450WHP? Because, you know, it's not that much of a big deal to pull out the engine on your brand new 30k+ Evolution and have it completely rebuild with expensive forged internals and sleeves.
Yes, it's "outdated" in terms of emissions and cost for Mitsubishi. This new engine (GEMA) was not engineered and designed with performance in mind as the 4G was, but to save cost, weight, and easier to pass ever increasing strict federal emissions laws.
So basicly, a new Evolution will be in the same catagory as a K series Honda engine. What an "Evolution"

Bottom line is that unless the new EVO comes out with a piece of $hit, badly designed, poorly executed engine, it will more likely than not be able to easily handle the relatively low increases in performance that most folks will go for. Anyway, the newer car will be more powerful than the present car so how's that bad? Also, what makes you think that the new EVO engine will be a version of the new Honda engine? I'm sorry to sound hostile, but you are not making any sense at all. How and why would you compare the Honda K series engine to a Mitsubishi turbo charged powerplant? And anyway, just what makes the Honda K engine so bad? I get that you detest the new EVO X and that's fine by me. I just don't see why you use such irrelevant arguments to buttress your position. Anyway, take heart. You can still purchase lots of new and used EVOs so you'll not be deprived of your choice!
Cheers
Any modifications?
This might sound really silly, but try moving your seat forward about 1 or 2 clicks on the seat rails. Seriously, it could be that you're not fully engaging the clutch. I'm not trying to insult you. I've seen this before on other Evo's. A buddy of mine had the same symptom you have and he's about my height. He asked me to drive his car and see if I could figure it out. When I got in the driver's seat, I noticed that he sat a lot farther back than I usually do. I moved the seat forward to make it comfortable for me and then I couldn't replicate the problem. Once he got back in the car, he started to move the seat back and I stopped him and asked him to drive it the way it was. He did and couldn't get it to "grind" anymore.
Another thing to consider is how warm is your transmission when this happens? Is it within the first 10 minutes of driving? Not within the first 10 minutes of the car running, but within the first 10 minutes of actually driving?

I have no modifications. It happens when I start driving and continues, but when I have been driving for 10 and longer the grind only happens some times. But I wiil take your advice and try to move my seat forward. Thanks for the advice
I just got my IX on Thursday and have noticed the same thing. I've messed with the seat adjustment but it still happens. It's not necessarily grinding it just feels like the shift from 2 to 3 is not at smooth as 1 to 2 or 3 to 4. I never worried about it since my buddies VIII feels pretty much the same.
did you get evo new or used? is it possible you could just use some new tranny fluid?
my shifting is usually pretty notchy until the car warms all the way up, then it smooths out.
what rpm do you usually shift at?

Twenty-twent five years ago, Mitsubishi was a different company than it is today. It was seen as a company with a foundation in performance, and it showed in their products: the Starion turbo, Galant VR4, 3000GT VR4, Mirage turbo, and of course, the DSM line and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
but I can honestly say with confidence that the VIII-IX are the last REAL Evos.
