Quote: Wow, try reading my statement again. It was in reference to your comment on "American engineers." RIF. (Reading is fundamental...)
I wasn't talking about past American automotive engineering "achievements", I was talking about what they currently offer in automobiles (just about nothing.). If you want true sports car performance, you either have to shell out the money for a C6 Z06 (admittingly a very bad *** machine) or go for a German/Japanese car.

Quote: Chrysler had nothing to do with the turbo DSM. The platform and drivetrain was adapted form the Galant/VR-4. It was already designed by the Japanese. Only the N/A 2G's have any Chrysler content. Some American designer maybe got to draw up the grille, or come up with the name Talon or Laser, but nothing mechanical.

The Evo X, again is a Mitsubishi developed platform with an engine developed by a consortium. Its probably less "JDM" then a DSM if you want to get extremely technical because the engine design was supposedly first engineered by Hyundai, before Mitsu engineers took their take on it. But even then Hyundais whole engine program to date has been cribbed designes of older Mitsubishi engines, so the circle is complete I guess. Mitsubishis has propped up both Chrysler and Hyundais small/medium car programs for over three decades.

The bottom line is, your concerns about the car being American or Korean and therefore flawd are invalid. Saying Americans can't build decent sports cars is ludicrous.

And I'd still like to see this tercel that outlhandles Evos on the auto-x and skidpad "BY FAR". I know auto-x courses can be laid out to favor one car or another, but a skidpad test is somewhat consistent. Evos generally pull from the low to mid .90's. So a car that beats one "BY FAR" would have to pull at least 1.05 lateral G's. Does your Tercel do that, or more?
Ehhh no. The DSM chassis was co-developed by Chrysler + Mitsu. Yes American's cannot build high performance (affordable) sports cars. Yes I said it. Name one modern American sports car (in the same price range) that can compete with the likes of the Elise, S2000, RX-7, Type R, 350Z, S15, Evo, or STI on a road course? Sorry, you won't be able to. Why? Because Americans are just that lazy and stupid.

Actually the "tercel" (its actually a Paseo) pulls 1.08 on a skidpad with slicks. With it's stock rims and street tires i have never tested it but I'm fairly certain it doesn't do as well as the Evo lol. Stick anything on wide enough slicks and it's handling capabilities will be considerably increased (especially an 1800lb go cart).

where's the battery? Dare we think trunk-mounted battery from the factory?
Please, Mitsu, bring back the hand-crank!!! Think of all the weight we'd save, it might even out-handle a tercel!!!!11!1one!!

Just to reiterate this every time someone posts this video... Volkswagen has admitted to tuning the DSG car to make more power. Volkswagen DOES NOT claim the DSG car to be faster because of the transmission.

Hey Sonic why do you hate America so much? Just move to Japan or something. If you are a non-Japanese living in Japan you are going to have a real tough time with the crazy rascism. If you're not Japanese you're going to be shunned like the plague and be treated like trash.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS CAR BUT IT MUST BE SAID. SRT-4 Is cheaper than all of the listed cars but is still in the same performance class. Even on a road course It will beat almost anything except the Evo STI Elise and RX7. IM NOT SAYING GO GET AN SRT4. But the truth must be told. dont forget.
I HATE SRT-4's

Quote: I was supposed to take pics of the Corvette SS/Z07/Blue Devil for a friend here at work, but it wasn't anywhere to be found.
well that kinda sucks...I wonder if that is Lutz' way of telling the public the car won't be produced. It was supposed to be an 08 model year in production soon then an 09 model year...now who knows
