Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
I must say I dont like the the rear headlights and I dont know.. looks too futuristic spaceship like... I expected something better from Mitsubishi but Overall I guess it looks good. And Yes, I hope they come with the clutch pedal version, shifting without a clutch is no fun (in my opinion) haha
No it was not. The platform comes from the Galant, which is a a Mitsubishi design. All Eclipses have been based on Galants from day one. The same holds true today. Mitsubishi developed the small and medium sized platforms that are under Chyrslers today. If you read any review of the Caliber or new Sebring they will be quick to tell you they're on a Mitsubishi chassis. Just like back in the seventies, just like today, Mitsubishi props up Chyrsler's small (and now some medium) size car offerings. I don't have access to Mitsu docs anymore, but try this link on for size:

So maybe Chyrsler stylists should get a little more credit then I initally gave them for 1G looks, but their engineers had no significant involvement.
The Corvette, Cobra or LS1 Z-28 would murdalize a lot of those cars on a long legged course. But of course, you'll say autocross is all that matters.
I love modded vs. stock comparisons.
I don't think I'll be swapping my evo for a Tercel, Echo, xA, Paseo because it can swing around a tight parking lot a couple of tenths faster when on slicks. An Evo still has many many more advantages and a wider range of conditions, espeically a modded one.

Yes American's cannot build high performance (affordable) sports cars. Yes I said it. Name one modern American sports car (in the same price range) that can compete with the likes of the Elise, S2000, RX-7, Type R, 350Z, S15, Evo, or STI on a road course? Sorry, you won't be able to. Why? Because Americans are just that lazy and stupid.
Actually the "tercel" (its actually a Paseo) pulls 1.08 on a skidpad with slicks.
