I think you are going to have to save the animated gif and host it somewhere then link to it.

You are over-reacting. Why do you believe "American engineers tend to botch things up..." Chrysler has certainly made some very good cars, engines and suspensions in the past. You ever hear of the 426 Hemi? How about torsion bars? Some of the current offerings, including the new Hemi seem pretty good. I guess American engineers just all suck? Yeah, just like WWII and all those bad airplanes that Grumman made that took all those Japanese Zeros (a Mitsubishi product, by the way...) out of the sky. I am sure their are a few American engineers on this site that would disagree. I believe alot of the problems with American automobiles these days are due to poor management and the bean counters that try to run the domestic auto companies. Now, do not read into my comments and say that I am saying that Mitsubishi's engineers (or Japanese engineers) suck. Not true, I have an open mind and like the EVO. Why else would I be here? Anyway, I am sure the X will be a fine car and I think some of the folks on the forum need to relax and see what the final product will be...

426 Hemi? Torsion bars? World War II? None of these things have any relevance to a modern sports car. What are you talking about?

Evo X DSG / Gear Box "Video"

I was looking a little deeper in to this DSG Gear Box stuff..

I found a nice "how it works" DSG Video from Audi/VW thats kind of cool. If you could match the right gears & HP to this set up it could make the Evo X a real rocket.

Rez90, you think I'm wrong. I think you're wrong. Agree to disagree.

However - and it's a big however ...

For me, your question that started this thread goes beyond the question itself: you are an evolved member and should know better than to post such a simple question. Newbies are posting questions left and right that are so elementary that it gets old and tiring to any member who follows the forum rules and searches before he/she posts. I couldn't believe that you were an evolved member.

Research extends beyond this forum, also. Had you read the short articles from the big named magazines, you would have found your answer there.

I think the thread attracted so much attention because people like to watch a war of words and take sides - "like high school all over again."

Had you been a newbie, I think more people would've criticized you.

What's funny to me is you expected to get "flamed" and your expectation proved correctly. And here you are taking offense to the criticism that was respectful - never did I throw F-bombs or obscenities, never did I call you names.

I wish you could've set a better example for the up-and-coming newbies.

I'm done replying in this thread. No hard feelings to anyone, even those whom were disrespectful.

give me a break dude. just because i'm an "Evolved member" doesn't mean i don't have the right to ask a simple questions.

There is no where in the rules that states

"Evolved members must research every question they ask and are not allowed to ask simple questions to make themselves appear to others as newbie's, they are only allowed to ask questions regarding the details of tuning and posting questions regarding engine build ups........."

You really lost sight of the purpose of this forum. It's to share information. You have no right to criticize my question. And like i said before. My questions that may be important to me might not be important to you.

Next time just hit the "Back" button and it will be all good.

Just FYI: When i was drooling over the Prototype X at the Detroit show yesterday, I gently tapped the trunk sheetmetal with my wedding ring. It's definitely made of aluminum. I have no idea about the other body panels.

Chrysler had nothing to do with the turbo DSM. The platform and drivetrain was adapted form the Galant/VR-4. It was already designed by the Japanese. Only the N/A 2G's have any Chrysler content. Some American designer maybe got to draw up the grille, or come up with the name Talon or Laser, but nothing mechanical.

The Evo X, again is a Mitsubishi developed platform with an engine developed by a consortium. Its probably less "JDM" then a DSM if you want to get extremely technical because the engine design was supposedly first engineered by Hyundai, before Mitsu engineers took their take on it. But even then Hyundais whole engine program to date has been cribbed designes of older Mitsubishi engines, so the circle is complete I guess. Mitsubishis has propped up both Chrysler and Hyundais small/medium car programs for over three decades.

The bottom line is, your concerns about the car being American or Korean and therefore flawd are invalid. Saying Americans can't build decent sports cars is ludicrous.

And I'd still like to see this tercel that outlhandles Evos on the auto-x and skidpad "BY FAR". I know auto-x courses can be laid out to favor one car or another, but a skidpad test is somewhat consistent. Evos generally pull from the low to mid .90's. So a car that beats one "BY FAR" would have to pull at least 1.05 lateral G's. Does your Tercel do that, or more?

You think Mitsubishi is gonna screw up with the car? I mean they got the first 9 pretty darn done good.

So i would not think they would mess the car up
