If they were producing a X with the whole "evolution" concept.. they would have given us same chassis, with better struts all around, sways included, better motor mounts, same 4G63 motor but more enhanced.. better trannies, more light weight.. a slight better clutch. Redifined looks.. like give us something close to a JDM rear.. etc etc.. but no instead they got this sedan with a Evolution X badge.. and all the driver factor that there is to it.. is who can mash the gas first, and all this computer gizmo crap.. doing the "heel toe for you" for you.. you wanna be enthusiast cnt seem to learn how to drive and transfer weight from side to side with your vehicle.. even worst cnt drive manually..

Cnt wait to see a X at the track and bragg how he took his opponent by placing it in "D" and mashing the gas.. That's why ppl by evos in US for anyways.. race to the top for power, and 1320 pass.. very few get to experience what the evo can do, but if a 1320 track is all you have.. then i guess have fun experiencing the quick acceleration this vehicle provides but keep in mind that is not the only thing it offers, nor it is the evos intent to be a quick accelerator only.. Its a dancer, a fighter a legend, a legend that is soon to die..

Until the new engine is proven and the aftermarket parts start being R & D everybody is just guesstimating the X's potential, the rumor mill will just keep on rolling along.

When the Porsche sales guys told their engineers they had to put cupholders in their cars for the american market, the engineers thought they were joking.
When one is driving, thats all you should do... DRIVE.
Thats why the Autobahns are usually safer than US roads.

Thats from the guys that gave us the 2nd best engineers in the world.
And a coupla world wars.

Pure "seat of the pants" driving skill, and fun is fading fast in this country, and yes, I am afraid of new technology, until it is proven.

New isn't necessarily better, anyone out there old enough to remember saccharin?

Thanks, for all the great feedback, thats what this forum is for,

FREE SPEECH!

And to the guy that thinks Hilary is a MILF......
You are one sick dude

And to Mr. fastCOEvo.....
I am not pissed about buying a IX.
I love my car, and after all the years of development that went into the car, and the TONS of aftermarket goodies that are available to me, the guys that buy the X will probably have to wait a few years for the same selection of stuff.
Anybody interested in buying a car with a lucky XIII badge?
That isnt a stoner?

I love this stuff........

So the Evo X is gonna be a great car... IF you drive it at 20mph! Sounds like loads of fun.

For people who know about car production, by when will Mitsu have to have a WORKING engine so it can be mass replicated? I would think this already needs to have been done if they are going to start selling the car this fall or early winter?
It seems to me this article does show that Mitsu is having some problems getting the new engine up to spec.

Dont be ignorant, an F1 driver isnt technically driving a manual. And those are some of the best drivers in the world, along with WRC that has technology out the ***. I dont mind technologies that increase performance, its traction control, and making the car heavier for more luxury that is the problem.

All cars in Germany don't have cup holders. In German society/culture it is frowned upon to be eating, drinking and talking on your cell phone while driving. To them a car is just a tool for racing or transportation.

Yeah, I agree on the trannys. I hope the aftermarket people get in there as soon as possible and start sorting it all out. You know, the shops like AMS and Extreme and so-on could figure out pretty fast what the strength limits are of the 2 trannys available (and let us know hopefully - hint you guys), and they along with the aftermarket manufacturers could figure out mod packages for the paddle shifter unit. The prices on the paddle shifter mod packages will be very interesting. If they are too expensive and don't look very convincing stout-wise, I'd get the conventional 5 speed. Maybe I would anyway.
I gotta say, and this might be a little silly, but there is one thing I have seen that makes me interested in the servo-shifted idea. Did you see any of the Speed Channel coverage of the American LeMans series last year? The in-car cam shots where you can see the driver hit the shifter, bam, bam, bam, 3 downshifts in about 1 and a half seconds while on the brakes for a corner. I'm not talking about prissy little paddle shifters. These shifters on the Bimmers and the Astons and Vettes are big fat sticks that come up from the floor and come right over to about 4 inches away from where your right hand is on the wheel so you barely have to move your hand at all and you are banging through the gears. There is no knob on the stick, it doesn't need one, the whole thing is fat, but light so you can hit it fast. I want my car hard-core, and I think that would be one very hard-core way to go.

^that would indeed be a rather hard-core way of doing things. But I can see why it might now have a 'mass market' appeal to it though. Then again, whoever said the Evo is for the masses.

{I seem to remember that these systems can go from one gear to the next in about 1/4 to 1/3 of a second and probably a little longer going down, but I think that's when it's linked up to a low-inertia race engine.}

Evo X Mule Video

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/15/v...ule-on-public/

Autoblog reader Corey Baines laughed and told us this video was lame. While Baines won't be winning an Oscar his short film's production values, it stands as one of if not the only glimpse we've had of the production Mitsubishi EVO X on public roads being tested. Baines came across the car while driving around one day, and after confirming the boss was away for the day, hit the street to track down the EVO X mule with camera in hand. Not only was Baines able to follow the car and get some decent enough footage of it being driven on public roads, afterwards he approached its drivers in a parking lot who were very tight-lipped and made a hasty exit. While it's difficult to glean new info about the car from the video, one thing that's obvious is the giant rear wing out back that appears to be slightly bowed on the new EVO.
And the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSh2VdEdMOQ&

^Isn't 1/3 second 330ms. That's way too slow, I would guess more like 5-10ms.

Sweet. The bowed spoiler looks exactly like the one found in late gen GVR4's.
