I read that issue too. They got a full scoot around in the regular lancer, but had to keep it in 2nd for the X because right after their test drive, that Concpet X was going direct to the Detroit auto show for the unvieling. How would Mistu look if they had to say "We were going to unveil the next Evo, but the guys at SCC wrecked our million $$ prototype yesterday at willow springs."

Hey, at least they got to drive it! I also liked thier comment: "The new seats are so comfortable, i wonder if sparco will even bother making rails for the new Evo X"

Yeah cause you know with better technology, materials, research and development, its bound to be a poorly made motor

I love the growing hate for those idiots that bought IX's and are all pissed off because a newer better version will be out in a year.

Computers make a car soft? Jesus. I guess cars like The Bugatti Veyron must be for sissies. Hevaen forbid a car company should use computers to make their cars handle better, brake better, run better etc.

Its 2007. COme to grips with the no one likes spending 35k+ on minimalist ****. If you want bare bones, buy th RS version when it comes out

I am more than sure that such a small publication as SCC would get the first shot of driving an all new highly anticipated EVO X which will come out in September (6 months away) at Frankfurt Show I guess paper magazines don't sell as well like they used to mostly because of the internet so I guess they try anything and everything to get someone notice them although making up BS won't win them a lot of followers over the long run.

Nicely said

People fear change. Its funny that this happened so recently with the IX's and yet is being repeated again. With the IX's the complaints were that MIVEC was unproven or the new piston ring design is gonna blow, yadda yadda yadda. Just effin wait till the X comes out before you judge. Its definately gonna be more high tech.

The EVO X is going more in the way of the STI IMO with more luxury components that'll appeal to a much broader range of consumers. Currently EVO owners MAINLY range from ages 18 to maybe thirty-five with a few exceptions. STI owners on the other hand range anywhere from 18 to the 60's and maybe even 70's.
It all comes down to $$$. You think any business will turn down the opportunity to make more $$$ just to please a small fraction of the equation?

Oh- and Hilary Clinton is hot!!! MILF- stamped and certified!

I like my 8 for what it is. Bare bones. I like a manual, and the mechanical diffs. It makes the car kind of rugged and rough. Such a car is good to learn how to really drive in. You learn to be smooth and make the most of what you have. Then you can jump into something like a M3 and smoke the pants off of someone who hasn't been through similar training.

That being said, I'll wait for the XI myself.

I think this speaks more of the magazine in general. I purchased pretty regularly SCC during the time before and after the introduction of the EVO VIII to the US. They had one good article, and then almost all other articles we're not really up to snuff.
A year later or so I purchased a Grass Roots Motorsports with a comprehensive article on the EVO and they even tested three flavors of the EVO. A true front page article and review.
Another parting example is the head of the SCCA stood up at the introduction of the new Miller Motorsports Park and raved on about how much support they get from magazines like SCC and the like, but didn't once mention Grassroots even though Grassroots usually posts full articles of times / dates and events of those that participated in a race.
Let me try and point out a contrast here. SCC uses a lot of eye candy visual means to stimulate readership. Does that mean you can't find an article here and there that actually boosts the knowledge of any particular car? No. Sometimes their articles are second to none. However the 'value' per dollar in driving skill, information, and car knowledge is not on par with say Grassroots.
I'm just glad I can pre-read them at my local Borders before I make a purchase of any particular one.

NEW=YES BETTER=UNTIL PROVEN

IMO why not satisfy your biggest customer.. Business is business and money talks.. so if Mitsu finds a way to attract a bigger range of customers they have done so.. usually the true enthusiast doesn't give a damn about what the new X offers.

But this new range of customers have taken into consideration this car which at one time was looked a youngsters car. No doubt the X is really meant for Americans.. I have never seen a bunch of ppl cry about interior, comfort, and looks in regards to an evo since its introduction in the US market. No seems more hyped out about it then us here.

Now I agree with the gadgets in terms of safety only but other than that

The X looks great. I'll probably end up getting the 2nd or third iteration of this new chassis

...until its physically available who knows how it will be...reading vs. actually seeing in person are 2 different things...

...if Mitsu needs to appeal to a broader cosumer base then they have to do what they have to do...

...personally I wish I had a IX but I am stoked to even have an VIII
