They're different all right. I just can't wait to see them on the road.

I will get the faster one, even if it's the STI.

The Faster will be the car with the best handling. And the Evo is always on top on that department.

The STI Doesn't look like is well balanced.

The 9 DOES look a **** load better.
Cheer up, you are in luck. I've seen a good many EVO IX's for sale with low miles for fairly good prices. You'll get the car that you like better for a much lower price

For me, I'll take the EVO X because it seems like a great car!

The Balance was the flaw that the STI had. The STI may be faster in straight roads and maybe in 2008 but the AWD system and handling of the STI haven't change much so the EVO has a very big advantage.

I’m telling you I have seen most of the Imprezas having trouble on the tracks. But I haven’t seen EVO's having any trouble.

Last month I saw an 480whp EVO 9 beat a 700hp Viper on a circuit track.

The handling make the car the fastest.

I’m planning on buying and EVO X, I know it’s almost a year away. But the only thing that worries me is the S-AWD control may be to controlling. But hey I know that mitsu knows that 99% of the owners of an EVO tweak their cars so I hope they don’t make this one impossible to tune.

It's not a year away anymore. My dealer said he's taking order in December for a first delivery estimated as late March/early April.

A dealer would have no way of knowing that.

Yes I Know, but I hate it when they do that. Friking Morons, they do anything to sell.

Both cars will most likely have mod hurdles to overcome. The Subie's engine is the Legacy motor which uses a lot of tricks to make it cheaper to produce and harder/more expensive to mod according to SCC.

The legacy motor is the virtually the same motor out of the STi, the only reason why its "harder/more expensive to mod according to SCC" is the ecu/SI drive. Hopefully once that is cracked the cost will come down.

Motor trend said 0-60 in 4.5, BUT 1/4 mi in 12.5.

With 5 manual VIII, IX 0 - 60 times need to be like 4.0 to get a 12.5 1/4 mile.

I can't make my mind, not sure how much WTQ the new tranny will take but with tuning and W/M the X should be good for mid 11's, even with a lousy automatic 60'

But imagine this - 400whp evo X (W/M and tune) with drag radials and 4800 rpm stall converter - 10 seconds? Hell yeah I'm serious! I've seen 420 whp Z28's run 10's

I don't know much about Subies, so I can only go by whats in this months SCC. They clearly mentioned things being different betwen the Legacy motor and the wRX that may make it less mod friendly. I don't have the issue in front of me now, but I remember it being something about a plastic intake manifold and/or intercooler with plastic endtanks which may fail at high boost and about how the turbo is integrated in some way to the DP or EM that makes replacing it more of a pain.

But yes, other then that, the base architecture of the engine is the same, but the heads are slightly different.
