GPTourer,
If you consider pointing out inconsistencies, possible inaccuracies, and offering a counterpoint to be calling someone out, then I suppose that is what I was doing. Although, I usually think of that as debating. Both of which still fall short of flaming someone. Given the inability to truly express inflection in a textual format, the tone given to a post is left to one's interpretation, which is not necessarily the one intended by the author.
Do you not see my interpretation of the photos to be another possible explanation of the little we can see and what Mitsu has released in their press releases?

turbos on Subarus for ####'s sake lol. I wouldn't lose any sleep over thinking
would break with tradition (excluding things like the U.S.-only 2G eclipse Garrett turbo) and contract another company to put the snail in their flagship. If 2008 sees larger displacement engines it will be because they are normally-aspirated...the FIA isn't in the habit of letting cars get faster. Rather, it tries to rein them in. One thing to remember, though, is that the days of strict WRC homologation rules are gone. The days of being able to buy a car that is a few tweaks away from being an honest-to-goodness purpose-built WRC car ended with the Evo VI...

Its a car and it has room, not everycar is going to be a japaness box that weights 2500 Ibs. If you want a light car buy a civic, if you can stand a whopping 200 pounds more weight and probably just as good as handling and more power than the previous evo's the X might be alright................
Yeah right, depends on what year civic you're talking about. Current one's weigh in at around 2800 - 2900 lbs. We just gotta stop getting so fat cuz even if we get all these powerful engines like a new civic SI engine at 200hp, it's not much quicker than the old SI at 125HP.

Haha I think your on to something there, if we lose weight the car can gain some, shoulda thought of that earlier. BTY, be careful honda owners dont like there cars called fat
their vtec wont work as good if their fat

Plus 200 lbs is stupid heavy and will impact the handeling of the car. 3.6 inches higher will also hurt.
The aluminum block sounds good for a little weight savings, but we will have to see how it takes mods (Automobile Mag had some concerns).
If I did not own an Evolution and had been waiting for the X, I would buy a IX without hesitation. If the weight did not bother me, I would buy a BMW.
This is the end of the enthusiast's Evo!.

All the magazines that I have read stated a 200 pd. increase. Almost all new cars are getting heavier because of crash ratings and safety. Also the last mag I read said it will have "super" handling which includes ayc.
I dont think the 200Ilbs is going to hurt the car that much, there is many ways to offset that as far as power and handling. Some of the best handling cars in the world are 3500+ pounds. 200 extra pounds come in the form of safety and a better made interior and a more complete car, I think that is a good tradeoff.
$37, 424 - 2006 MR SE
$3,120 - SSL package
$1,900 - navigation (approximate)
$1,000 - automated trans (approximate)
-----------
$43,444 without the additional cost of more aluminum panels, AYC, additional airbags, etc.
Since they'd probably sell only 100 of those a year at that price, something has to give, and my guess is the front seats, momo steering wheel, and carbon fiber wing. The wheel and wing are causing lots of warranty headaches, and the seats, in my opinion, are the best place to cut costs.

First year new GTIs had no launch control and they handle pretty damn good without it. Either way, the X will be fine regardless of launch control.
* I saw somewhere (on here I think) that Mitsu was trying to make the Evo pretty similiar for all regions, which is why we may get the AYC, etc.
