Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
yeah no doubt, this time their jumping from 289 or something to 320hp- that's a big claim, but with a new engine and probably a newer bigger more efficient turbo (would still LOVE to know what turbo it is)- I'm sure it won't be hard to do.
Also can't wait to see the colors available and what the RS version will include!

But seriously I doubt they would drop the WRX model, from what I see on the streets they sell pretty good. But then again if they do drop WRX, that just means a lot more customers for Mitsubishi
Launching the X
Will launching the X with the new DSG tranny mean using techniques like any other automatic? Any type of launch control included?

Well, I don't know exactly how close the X trans will be to the DSG but there are certain things you can do to launch a dual clutch trans. (If Mitsubishi actually comes out with a dual clutch). I don't know, I very confused right now. I'm just waiting to see what kind of trans it actually comes with. Then I'll wait a year and see how everyone likes it before I consider buying one over a MT on an EVO. But here's a video of launching a certain "dual clutch auto/manual transmission"

This is from VW's own German website from this link:
http://www.volkswagen-media-services...tlichkeit.html
Allow me to translate:
The identical motor equipped Touran with DSG beats the acceleration numbers of the manual version by up to 0.3 seconds. The top speed of the 1.9TDI (177 km/h) and the 2.0TDI (197km/h) are identical. Responsible for the difference however is THE FACT THAT THE DSG MODELS (note it says models, not model!) PRODUCE 3-4 MORE KW OF POWER DUE TO MODIFIED ENGINE TUNING.
I'm not sure how much clearer that can be. They specifically say models and FACT.

they wont sacrifice the WRX's sales LOL obviously......!!!, the STI costs 20k more in most countries. That's in Australian dollars. US dollars its still plenty to put it out of reach for some people.
I've owned subaru's latest 06STI for the same time I've owned the Evo 9 and the Evo 9 stomps it, the 06 STI was an easier day to day car though and was also fast.
the Ralliart that is going to be taking on the WRX price wise will begin to decimate it.
Does anyone know if the Ralliart is using proper Evo drivetrain e.g. diffs hubs etc? or is it cut down i.e. viscous like the WRX's diffs are compared to the STI's mechanical and variable centre?
does it lose SAYC-II and the yaw control too?
oh and the Evo X - is it the 4G63 still or a different 2.0 litre

Been driving an A3 with DSG for over a year now. DSG works great for normal driving and drag racing. Not so great, IMO, for road racing - the downshifts are too smooth for my liking and don't always co-incide with what I wanted the car to do. In other words it can be difficult to time the downshift because I have to account for the lag time while the car matches revs.
... plus, of course, there's the whole "no skill needed" side of it, which rubs me the wrong way and is less fun.

I agree with you 100%!!
I've been drviing the DSG A3 as my daily driver also. It is a great gearbox for drag and daily driving. Once you get it on a track (road racing), however, there is that annoying lag time that occurs as you are shifting between gears. If some people get annoyed with turbo lag, watch out here!! Maybe it will be improved with advancing technology, as the DSG is light years ahead of Tiptronic or SMG, (and the day of the MT will someday be obsolete), but for now, I gotta go MT all the way!!
BTW, Ferrari is adding DSG to some of their makes. So I guess that answers the question of how much HP it can handle.
