Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
If you're the type that does not like to mod much this will the Evo for you. It will take some time for the aftermarket to do some research and development to extract the same levels of power in the MB11 as the 4G63T. There has been a few examples of aluminum blocks producing high amounts of power like the SR20DET, EJ257, and the VQ35DE.
As for the SR20DET it will hold a lot of power stock like the 4G63T even though it's a full aluminum engine.
For the EJ257 you will need to upgrade it to be fully closed decked to handle more power.
With VQ35DE you will have to upgrade the pistons and rods and put oil squirters.
In my opinion, as time goes by companies will come out with a closed deck upgrade for the 4B11T so it can hold more power.

1) The Prototype X show car (which is not necessarily one of the prototypes that have been running around the ‘Ring) has all the things on it that the Production car will have.
2) The roll control system doesn't have "sway bar" end links.
I'll find a link to the specific pic,and provide the quote regarding ARC and the Evo X. I'll also find some info detailing ARC. Basically it's a system that diagonally connects the shocks together,so shock pressure rises instantly through displacement of the shock fluid.
The company that Mitsubishi has a long history in the Dakar with, which is also the company that Citroen used for their WRC car, offers several versions of roll control systems. One of which still uses what look like sway bar end links - http://www.kinetic.au.com/rfs.html Of note in the pictures that we have all seen of the rear underside of the Proto X is that we can’t see the center section of the bars, therefore we can’t tell if they have an RFS style decoupler.
Here's the quote regarding the existence of the system on the prototype:

Your second link, while interesting because of the subject, doesn’t necessarily apply to whether the Evo X will have roll control.
This is the system that I understood the Evo X to have. There are other versions of Active Roll Control, including Semi-Active roll control. Mitsu had a version of it in a Dakar Montero/Pajero. It was banned. Only mechanical systems with swaybars were legal from then on. The semi-active version uses swaybars in conjunction with actuators that couple and decouple swaybars and/or increase/decrease pressure in the shocks. At any rate I think an Evo would only be deserving to have the full-on active system-as high tech as an Evo should be.
Kinetix’s most advance system is still passive. If RFS was good enough for the all-conquering Citroen Xsara WRC car, I’m pretty sure it’s high tech enough for the Evo X.
Everyone seems to be looking for something to post about in this forum without having anything new to really discuss.

Nice find. This is the best write up on the X that I've seen. I didn't know that the new 2.0 will have MIVEC controlling both cams instead of just one cam like the IX. I am very interested in the new clutchless transmission also. It will be nice to test drive one when they are finally released to the public. I may end up giving up my VIII for a X.

You guys and wanting the newest and greatest technological drivetrain available; now that is over-rated. Let's take S-AYC for example. USDM Evos never got it and who cares? Mainly it's the people who daily drive their cars alot. It's awesome technology don't get me wrong, but for a modded evo, it's just another electronic hurdle that can be fixed with mechanical parts like a beefier rear sway bar. Of course I'm referring to lessening the corner entry understeer by creating the neutral handling that everyone has grown to love.
Are you looking for the $50k option or what? I'm sure if you are looking at the X but you want a more expensive car you could just pay more for it when you go to the dealer......
Anyways, specs released on the IS-F say it will have around 400hp but still have a 0-60 below 4.9. Must be a heavy beast. I highly doubt the X will have 400 hp, but I have a sneaky suspicion that it will still be faster then the IS-F.
I don't want to come off sounding like an a$$ but I'm just not sure that the X will be in the same class as some of the cars you listed. We will see though.....
