Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
When can I buy one?
Anyone got any firm dates when the Evo X will be available? I've tried calling the dealerships, looking through magazines, internet search, etc, and can't get any ballpark when it should be available for purchase.
$37, 424 - 2006 MR SE
$3,120 - SSL package
$1,900 - navigation (approximate)
$1,000 - automated trans (approximate)
-----------
$43,444 without the additional cost of more aluminum panels, AYC, additional airbags, etc.
Since they'd probably sell only 100 of those a year at that price, something has to give, and my guess is the front seats, momo steering wheel, and carbon fiber wing. The wheel and wing are causing lots of warranty headaches, and the seats, in my opinion, are the best place to cut costs.

I thought this thread was suppose to be about people pointlessly estimating the weight of the EVO X, not the price.
Lets all wait and find out the real specs/price from Mitsubishi
Actually, my point was that price can help determine weight. If cost was no object, the whole car would be made of carbon fiber with lots of magnesium and aluminum parts and weigh much less than the IX. Because we can presume that the X won't be a heck of a lot more expensive than the IX, we can infer that the car won't be lighter than the previous model.
Also, roughly $43,500 is just too much for an Evo in this market, even with more content, so the weight will probably go up to cut cost.

I dont think the 200Ilbs is going to hurt the car that much, there is many ways to offset that as far as power and handling. Some of the best handling cars in the world are 3500+ pounds. 200 extra pounds come in the form of safety and a better made interior and a more complete car, I think that is a good tradeoff.
While it sucks that the car is getting heavier, I also have no doubt that the car will also be faster and handle better then the IX.
Put it this way the every single evo is heavier then the model before it, with that being said mostly everyone would agree the IX is the best evo to date.

Bite away, I am not talking about little 1st gear autocross with 2000 Ibs prepped race civics. I am talking road course, lateral acceleration (ie G's), handling in general, not autocross that rarely ever exceeds 50MPH. Humm just to name a few cars that handle well that are over 3200-3500+ Ibs Lets see 350z, Porsche, Audi RS4, Lambo, Ford GT, even some Ferraris, I could go on for awhile. Lets see the evo already weighs 3200Ibs, time and time again pulls .95G or higher and does very well on road courses and can achieve over 1 G of lateral grip with minor mods. Do you really think 200+ pounds is going to turn the evo into a boat that handles like a mustang. Are you saying with a passenger your car doesnt handle well, I doubt it
And I agree with the guy above, every edition of evo has been just as good or better than the previous, why does everyone think they are going to screw this one up by adding a little extra weight. Every one wanted a more civil better put together evo thats quieter, now you are getting it, it just takes a little more weight to achieve it, oh well.

If the 2008 USDM Evo has the AYC coming to America then that is enough to make it better than most Evo IX
Mitsubishi took out the gigantic wing and replaced it with a moderate looking one in their Evo X, doing that it will attract more customers of all ages and races. Previously, the Evo were being bought by true car enthusiasts and curious ones too, now the Evo X will even be bought by females

Entry level WRX will be around 3089lbs according to Edmunds. I don't know how much more the STI version will weigh, but it sounds like it's gonna be lighter than the new EVO X. 300-400 lbs is a big difference when it comes to going around a track. It will be interesting to see the next round of competition between the two.
