Here is mine installed. I trimmed the middle rubber piece to allow the little nipple to not interfer. It works great that way. Here are the pictures, you can see I left the front half of the airbox installed to try and isolate the air to the filter a little bit. It actually holds the filter in place also, so it serves double duty.

Looks good! Just being cautionary, but check the bottom of your filter once in awhile. With it sitting on that plastic, it may rub through.

Thanks for the advice. However the part sitting on the plastic is actually the metal part at the end of the filter. It should be okay.

i see from your pics u did not put any part of that air channeling mechanism back in, i did the same and notice some people are integrating it with their new filter, i thought i might try that but if you arent having any issues with yours then im not sure if it would help me...basically it feels a bit weird when i rev and let the rpm's drop as its dropping it spudders a bit and feels like it might stall...(its only stalled once so far hmmm)

This was the first mod I did on my 2 mustangs and it really made a difference. I really like the K&N filters and still have a recharge kit.

So, my question is this...what k&N fitler should I get and do I need any extra parts??

Thanks in advance!!

I really haven't felt any power added, but my butt dyno may have been off a little Have only driven the car for about 20 minutes and it will take some time getting use to the turbo sound. I am used to good ol' American muscle v8 and supercharger sounds.

I took pics of the process and will post later.

For those of you having problems, did you try resetting your computer. I'm not familiar with the evo or any mitsubishi for that matter and thats simply the reason I am here. So I can learn everything I need to before I actually get my hands on my own Evo X. I am familiar with this mod and have done it on a few cars. Although the gains are only 1 or 2 wheel HP on my ZX2 it helped. I always reset my computer when I do any performance mods. Not sure if you have to for these cars?

Now if someone would buck up for the Agency Power kit, and post up an exact template for their heatshield, we'd be gravy.

^ I used a semi-hard plastic laying around my garage.
Cut a 16x7 piece. Then fold to fit it to the front filter housing. Use 3M double sided tape to attach it to the housing. Cut the bottom piece, then fold up for room for the wires.

And oh, I went with the KN brand reverse conical filter...
