Yeah I just put mine in a couple days ago it pulls much better at the top end. Can't tell if i've lost anything at the low end or not though. I forget what rpm the boost really kicked in hard before.

Yeah i reset my ecu after having the cone on for a while and it made a huge difference resetting the ECU. It pulls a lot better now and I have that low end torque back.

Sweet, I will soon be getting an after market intake. How did you reset the ECU? Just pull the battery for a while?

Ok, tomorrow I will pull the battery. The intake brings out the sound that the EVO really should have out of the box. Stupid stock restrictive parts. This is why all the test drives never make people happy.

I used the same spectre 25 dollar intake head that everyone else used here and I have to say it fits realy nicely into that air dam piece.

got the K&N Installed today - WOW - sounds so much better

ran dashhawk data logger the other day and my intake temp was at 11 and today after the SRI it was 19-14 - so not much warmer but i am gonna build a heat shield for it and see what comes out of it

Also reset the ECU but i didn't drive it prior to the reset after install so i can't tell if the reset helps - but seems like it drives a little smoother

Thanks for the HOW TO!

I've done these cone filters before but I've always gotten heat soak from idling at the lights for too long. Once the car was moving, it was fine. The cone filter sounds like a good way to get some quick and cheap gains but is anyone experiencing any heatsoak? For $25, I might just try it anyway.

like i said the temp did go up a bit as per the dashhawk readings.

Interestingly enough i can't figure out if the dashhawk is reading the first or the second air sensor

i will build a heatshield this weekend to see if it helps at all

Done! I found a spare intake from my autox car - brand new in the wrapper! Install was seriously a piece of cake. I took it out for a spin and it make all these whooshing noises. I couldn't really tell if I gained any power. I'm still in my break-in so I still haven't gotten on it yet. I'll still keep it on for a while to see if I get any heat soak.

I would recommend picking up the AEM dryflow filter from advanced auto parts, the one down the street from me keeps them in stock. The AEM has a fairly nice velocity stack built into the base.

Bummed Out Now

you gotta love it when you get all excited to do a cool mod to your car. I buy the parts and I get started. Well........ one of the bolts for the stock airbox just keeps spinning. awesome design mitsu. way to ship my car out with a f'ed up bolt that won't come off.
