Thanks for the writeup.

Khaz, constructive criticism is one thing, and excessive flaming is another. Try and keep it classy, maybe you could revise your post to say..."make sure you have the right oil filter wrench, because I had to use channel locks and due to my lack of preparation I had a bad Sunday".

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but on ramps, with the nose high, how well is oil going to drain? The car certainly won't be too level.
Changing the oil on the Evo X works best with the front in the air. Ramps work perfect (as long as you have the clearance to use them).

This works best because the oil drain bolt/hole faces the back of the car (not the sides), and having the front up in the air drains the pan that much better since the oil drain hole sits up a bit.

How do you reset the "Routine Maintenance" service notice after an oil change?

If I'm not mistaken...

With the car off and the key turned to accessory power, hold down the info button on the service interval screen.

I just changed my oil and I forgot to put a crush washer on the drain bolt. Should I drain all the new oil and put a crush washer on?

If it doesn't leak then you should be just fine, if it does leak and it's bothering you or it's leaking badly them do it.

This is the right WIX oil filter!

Also did a oil dipstick level test during the refill:

I'm not here to argue about oil change intervals, break in procedures, synthetic vs dino oil, what filter brands are better, etc. Just a quickie "how to".

re: crush washer, my bolt (no service since it came outta the factory) didn't even have a washer on it at all so I agree with Jensen.

First major fail is the filter wrench shown in the pic. This type cannot be used on the X because of the clearance around the filter. There's not enough room to move the handle far enough out to have the band of metal tighten around the filter.
This type of wrench worked just fine for me. I wouldn't say that there is a lot of room, but definitely enough to get the job done.
