i like the STi and in particular Subura as a company.
-the car looks aggressive to me
-sounds like nothing else with the right exhaust set up
-has a very accessible torque cruve from low revs
-feels like a higher quality vehicle
-has a loyal following community

but i went with the Evo in the end...

What is there to uy at my age.. I have needs you know

Cuz you can only go as fast as you can afford.. and for me to spend 5G's on a STI and get less HP if it were spent on a Evo is money wasted for me..! I love the handling my evo provides.. and how i can manuver through a mountain quicker than If I were driving an STi<-- am talking both out the box and dropping 5G's on each.

I am a middle class man.. in the military.. and some of my peers have taken a hit in their pockets just to try and match my evo with their STi's<-- am talking same rank, location, and martial status.

I driven a 06 STi.. and if I weren't into craving speed and raw acceleration this would be the car for me.. Just a TBE with a tune would do it for me.. Great communeter, with nice sound, and the comfort required to communte, Cruise control, 6cd changer, etc etc.. get the point.. so maybe when I become a 40 to 50's man and not wanting the crazy things i want now.. this would be my car.. a STi..

I didn't buy one because:
- Too much blue in the interior for my liking
- 06+ are HIDEOUS, and I couldn't find an 04-05 (which I think look amazing) in white with low enough mileage for a good price when I was in the market

Those are really the only things I dislike about the STi.

Why I would love to own one:
- Sound is much, much better than that of the Evo IMO (there are very few cars I think sound better than the STi)
- Cruise control

In the end, a barely used white IX MR came up for a price I just couldn't refuse. Would I love an 04-05 STi? Absolutely. But I love my car just as much, if not more. They're both great cars and it's a shame that some Evo owners feel the need to rag on the STi and vice versa. I had a guy in a white STi smile and wave at me the other day, and that's the way it should be.

I don't know man, the subie vs evo is fun times.... I mean like what the hell we need someone to chirp on... We shouldn't go around keying other people's cars... But it feels pretty good beating someone...

My biggest reason, because I just plain like the Mitsu more than the Subie. The clean lines, the inline-4 motor (not a fan of the flat-4), better power increases from mods, and I love the interior. My second, would be the fact that most of the cars in our club drive Subies' (17 of them) & 2 SRT-4's. I thought the Evo would be a change of pace. They swear that Mitsus' are garbage, but I'm out to prove them wrong with the help of Buschur Racing and Cobb Tuning.

Drove an Evo when I was 16 and wanted one ever since. I had a 2g gsx before the evo and knew the 4g63 was a strong motor. Also, subies are a ***** to work on with the boxer engine, sound cool though.

Evo vs Sti

Like what was stated in an earlier post "the Sti is like a tuned up street car, while the Evo is more of a tuned down race car". I think they're both cool looking cars and offer similar performance BUT, the Sti costs roughly $5k more w/nothing that really blows the Evo away. You take a bone stock Evo and add $5k (GT35R kit ) and well...u already know. More power for less money/more mod friendly. Most WRX's & Sti's I've seen around making power have been rebuilt, while I've seen tons of 500-600hp Evos on stock blocks!! Also the Sti's hood scoop is just too much for my taste, and you see them EVERYWHERE. Evo wins by a mile in the styling department. And atleast around here, Evos are just rare. You don't see them everyday, I've never gotten so many stares when I drive. And wherever I stop I almost always get a compliment or get asked "what is that". Puts a smile on my face every time In closing both are great cars, if you want more of a smooth daily driver, a wicked growling exhaust, and a lil bit more stock horsepower, then Sti. If you want more raw power, better steering/handling, better mod response & a rock solid legendary motor, then the EVOOO!

Wanted an STI at first, but theres plenty on the road and i wanted something rare. Plus reading on the EVO's potential did it for me.

The STI is not a bad car by anymeans...I suppose it gets down to personal preference.

1. The 4G motor is stronger and has a lot more potential (relatively cheaper to mod) than the EJ25.
2. The Evo has a much meaner look to it.
3. Not a big fan of the top mount IC.
4. Dont like the color / interior colors
5. More upgrade / performance options for the Evo

My .2c worth.
