Why didn't you buy the STI?
1.)Look
2.)Mitsu yellow>Subaru Yellow
3.)An ex-girlfriend had a yellow OZ I loved it it was just slow. ( I don't think she ever got over the heal/toe lesson.)
4.)its roomer in the back seat/ and has cup holders

Seems to be par for the course with Subaru dealers. They were peckers to me, too.
I made an appointment for a test drive at a dealership 20 miles away, and when I got there, my test drive was sitting on the showroom floor.
I was furious. All they wanted to do was sit there and stare at the car and pat me on the *** about how great it was. I didn't make an appointment to talk about the STi. I made an appointment to drive it. I was steaming mad.
I went to the only other dealership within reasonable distance from my home and was told, "You can drive it around the parking lot."
I was 31 years old. If they thought for a second that I was going to give them $31,000 for a car I've never driven, and take my test drive on the way home, they had another thing coming. I agreed to take it around the parking lot, and immediately hit the highway, and beat the living Hell out of that car up one side of the road and down the other. We got back to the dealership and I said, "I'll take it, but not this one!"
I visited two Mitsubishi dealerships. One of them didn't have any Evos in stock, and at the other, a salesman just walked up to me and said, "I'll go get the keys." He came back with keys in hand and he told me, "Have fun. I don't need to go with you to sell this car, because this car will sell itself."
For that reason alone, I should've purchased an Evo, and then gone back to the Subaru dealerships and had the general managers of them come out and see my new car.

Well my reason was the price for a used STI it wasn't on par with a brand new EVO IX at south coast. And all my lady friends opinion think the STI are "cute" car with the pinks stickers on them. I would rather drive a meaner and beasty car IMHO.

Hey guys:
Call me a semi-neutral outsider (still trying to decide between the two cars). I spent all of yesterday doing a fairly comprehensive analysis of both vehicles. I figured that I'd share what I figured out, so that anyone else in the market would benefit from the research I've done. Also, keep in mind this is a comparison of vehicles taken as stock, with no modifications, ect, planned.
Notes: Vehicles in comparison are a 2006 WW Evo SE and a 2006 Aspen White STi (gold rims).
Subjective Pros/cons
Evo Pros: Better seats, better feeling tranny, better warranty, better steering feel.
Evo Cons: Rougher ride. Less "polished" interior. No Cruise Control.
STi Pros: Climate Control. Better looking interior. 6sp tranny stock. Safer Crash test ratings.
STi Cons: Fewer dealers in my area (nearest is 1hr away). PITA seats. 3 yr. warranty. Looks. Gold Rims
Objective Data (Source: Edmunds.com)
3yr Maintenance Costs Summary
STI: 0-37500mi. $680.62
Evo: 0-3600mi. $937.48
2003 350z (current): 41250-75000mi. $780.63
Insurance Costs per 6 mo. (source: Allstate Rep.)
2003 350z: $527.50
2006 Evo: $762.50
2006 STi: $787.50
OEM Tire Replacement Prices (Source: TireRack.com)
Evo: Yokohama Advan A046 $263/tire
STi: Bridgestone Potenza RE070 $188.00
Now then, as I said, this is just MY research. The numbers can/will change depending on who does your labour, your parts, ect. (EX: Edmunds quoted $83.38 prats+labor to replace the plugs in the Evo...)
Since everything is so close in price (I subtracted out the cost of replacing the plugs in the evo, since I could bloody well do that myself). I'm now waiting on pricing from both the Mitsu and Suby dealers to see which comes cheaper OTD, and decide from there.

my options before buying the evo are bmw 330, honda civic si.not a subie.but for some reason I loved the evo's.like how ithandles..so I traded my sciion tc in.with no regrets.
I just battled this devil over a two week period and I now have a new 06 IX SE in my drive way.
The Evo, at the current pricing scheme, is unbeatable. The STi never really justified it higher cost to me (and yes it is higher priced here in North Dallas - Evo IX MR is $33k and the STi is $35k).

When I went shopping for cars, the owner of the local Mitsubishi Dealership (who did not know me from Adam) let me drive his personal MR.
The local BMW shop let me test drive their only M Coupe.
The local Porsche dealership let me drive a new Cayman S.
The Subaru/Volvo dealer whom I had just recently spent $48K on a new car let me sit in the STi. They absolutely refused to let me drive it.
wanted an evo since 8th grade. my friend turned me onto gt3 for the ps2, and the evo v. I tore it up in that game w/ the evo, and into gt4 and oh so many other race and rally games. I never liked the STi until I got my evo. the Sti has more comfortable seats for a daily driver, and is a bit faster on the straight aways, but I bought my evo to turn, and it'll outhandle most anything on the planet. I recently drove my dad's 04 corvette z06 up a twisty mountain, and the next week i drove the evo up the same mountain, and the evo blew the doors off it. it just gripped! I was all grins, vs. being worried every moment i'd fly off a cliff. Also, in az, evo's are extremely rare vs. wrx/sti's. for your purposes, that being racing, definitely go w/ the evo rs. I went around the autox in an STi once, and It just seemed so slow and lifeless. (he posted the 3rd best times of the day). the evo is just plain sharp! oh, and none of the subies could keep up...granted I was being a tad nuts....
