Why didn't you buy the STI?

I have owned 2 Evos in the last 2 years a 2005 Graphite Gray MR and then I traded that in for a 2005 Apex Silver GSR w/SSL. Loved both cars, problem is Subaru came out with the new 2007 STi Limited in Urban Gray. So I have decided to trade in my 2005 GSR w/SSL for a new 2007 Limited STi in Urban Gray and will take delivery in a couple of weeks.
I have read this thread from beginning to end because I love my EVO a TON and still have seconds thoughts about trading it in for ALOT of reasons, especially when hearing about the lack of sharp steering and mod friendliness of the STi vs. the EVO -
1. 4G63 is alot easier to work on, especially when doing plug wires/plug changes, engine seems a TON more accessible.
2. Easier to break down and install modifications, more mod friendly.
3. Seems like more shops here locally in Minnesota are specialized in the 4g63 platform.
4. Wife complaining about me have a 4th new car in the last 5 years <--- this I can totally understand.
I been doing alot of reading on NASIOC and IWSTI and a bunch of other forums because I am trying to get a better understanding of what I am going to be moving over to. I have been hearing issues like ECUTek not unmarrying from the ECU properly and hesitation issues, etc. from those forums on the 2007.
So I have some reservation about moving over to the STi on that end of things. However, each car can be finicky I guess and it's just a matter of doing enough research to determine what proper path to go...seem CobbTuning is the way to go on the STi side and with the Access Port 2 coming out things should be much better, and there are alot of other things with the 2007 STi Limited that not only sound really encouraging as far as tuning.
The 2007 Limited has really grown on me and I really like extra ammenities that go along with it including the toned down appearance which is something my wife can enjoy driving also with our 2 kids, plus I have never owned an STi before so now I can say I have been on both sides of the spectrum.
These are just honest observations and my opinion, any comments are appreciated as long as they are respectful. Call me a traitor...or that I have moved over to the dark side...I don't care, I am still going to hang out with all my buddies on EvoMN.net and go to events and outings with them, I will never regret owning the EVO and will certainly not regret getting the Limited.

In fact, the 2006+ STI is right on par with the Evo's handling. But, that's not what this thread is about. You'll love the STI just as much as you love/loved your Evo. You can not go wrong with either of these cars. If one didn't exist, I'd own the other, and vice-versa.
As for modding, it's really not as bad as people make it out to be. Get a new turbo and new injectors and you're right back in the game. It just sucks that these hurdles need to be crossed because Subaru graced us with "just-adequate" parts.
I hang out with both, Evo and STi/STI owners. For the most part, each group has a shared respect for one another, but as with any group of people, there are always the fanboy idiots that always have to make some sort of statement.
As far as forums go, NUTSAC (NASIOC) is pretty much nothing more than a bunch of people talking smack on eachother, but there are a few knowledgeable people over there. I've PERSONALLY found that the best sites are www.subytech.com or www.wrxtuners.com. They're both great, and pretty much free of any sorts of flames and arguments. www.IWSTI.com is pretty much a fanboy site, and if you ever mention another car being faster than an STi/STI, you will be banned. Consider yourself forewarned.
Anyway, this is a bit off topic, but how'bout some pics?
I will be taking delivery in two weeks. Thanks for all the comments Sinister I appreciate them.
I am glad to hear the newer STi's are on par with the Evo.
I will post some pics once I get it.
I humbly have to say that I am lucky that I will have had the opportunity to own both at one point in time!

Just to give another "kid on the block" a chance I wanted to ask you guys why didn't you buy a Subaru STI? I am sure there is a minority of people on this forum who thought of getting an STI before ending up in an EVO. I know you all love your cars and I DO realize I am on the EVO forum, so no flames please.
I plan to do a lot of track events. I believe EVO RS is one of those few cars you can drive onto the race track straight from the showroom floor. (maybe upgrading tires and brake pads and brake fluid).
I think STI:
a). Heavier
b). Lazy Steering
c). Softer Suspension
d). Less balanced chassis
e). not as sophisticate center diff
What else? If you hate the STIs I guess now is the time. I really appriciate your input.
Thank you!

Might also want to look into Club WRX. Although it is a Subaru site, the majority of people there are just performance car enthusiasts in general, and equally appreciate all fast cars.
Heck, quite a few people who post regularly don't even own Subarus - we've got Evo owners, 'Vette owners, as well as people with 350 Zs, GTOs, Mustangs, etc.
Really cool site, and one I highly recommend.

You get 2 points for douchebaggery. He gets 3, but only because he bought a pos.

Now back on topic. I would love to own both the STi and Evo but went this way because I've always wanted an Evo. You know how kids yell out they want a Ferrari or Lambo? I said I wanted an Evo. Everyone looked at me like "wtf" because they had no idea what it was at that time.

I was going in order from least to most expensive. The Evo was the first on my "must have" list. Second (now) is a M5. Third is a Porsche 911 Turbo. Fourth is a Ferrari F430 Spyer. Fifth is a Lamborghini Murcielago.
I would like to own a Sinister Subaru but I think it'll be too expensive.

That's not a Sinister Subaru. That's an eBay Subaru. At least with the Sinister Subaru I can make it do dishes, laundry, do other cleaning around the house, run errands, etc. Unfortunately I'm looking at probably around eleventy billion dollars for that one.
honestly, i guess im shallow.
it was honestly too ugly for me to even consider. the new ones have grown on me a little bit more than the old ones...
but i couldn't see myself putting that much pride into something that looked like that.
again, all imho. personal opinion 100%

I'm gonna buy an Evo Andys008284 to do the bathrooms and scrub floors, but those may be expensive.
