Thought about an STI. but never went to the dealership to test drive it. My boy got the new 07 Limited edition STI. Very clean looking. Got some pull on the highway. but its not an EVO!

When I'm at the point where I'll no longer be modifying vehicles and complying to the manufacturer's guidelines, then the STI is for me. I have extensively driven both of them and the STI is, without a doubt, the better daily driver. Some say the EVO is too edgy and hardcore, which I agree with, but i love it, for now.

if the 2006 model looked like the 04-05 model, I would have got a STi. But 06 STi is just ugly, and the EVO 9 looks better than EVO 8 in my opinion.

The biggest reason for not getting the sti was they(the dealer) gave a best offer of $890 monthly payment after trade in+ $6k down payment for 5 years Seriously what kind of jacked up deal is that? I went down the street to the mitsu dealer and picked up my IX for 31K out the door with $500 monthly payments.
Plus the 06+ sti's are beyond ugly, no words can describe how ugly they are. I'm also not to fond of their aluminum block and cast internals.

+1, back in 2003 I actaully wanted the Sti Over the Evo, but they had to add a "Market Adjustment" to bring teh car up to 38K, non negotiable. I went down the street and bought me a 2003 Evo VIII for 29.5K. I now have me a 2006 MR.

I've owned and tracked both an '04 and '06 STI. They were both mucho fun- excellent torque, bulletproof transmission, great handling, great braking. My only gripes were an idiotic selection of gearing ratios, too small of a turbocharger, and conservative out-of-the-box swaybar/spring/damping rates.

That said, l have been still lusting after the rawness of my old 1998 Integra Type R.

The EVO 9 RS is FINALLY going to fill that void. It is the only car on the market, in a reasonable price range, that gives you only what you need for a serious street/track weapon and nothing you do not.

I am picking it up tomorrow and immediately getting to work on it. Stay tuned!!!

1. Because I did not want to listen to people asking me "Why didn't you buy an EVO?"

2. All of my friends with STi's have grenaded the tranny at least once in the first 30k miles

3. That hood scoop is the ugliest thing I have EVER seen

4. They sound like garbage.

I'm still lusting for a vehicle that can fill the void of my 1971 402ci El Camino. Yeah, my Camaro's raw, and yeah, it has an American V8, but it just isn't the same. Well, I got the STi to fill the void of my Camaro, but once again, it just isn't the same. Nothing compares. Every car has its own unique identity, and while you think you're filling a void, you're really just putting a band-aid over an open wound that's never going to close.

Right now you think that your new Evo RS is going to fill the void left by your Type R, but as soon as you get into it, you'll find that it has a personality unto its own. You never fill the void left by your first love. Ever. It always has a special place, and there's no way to avoid it.

Were they all launching up hill while towing 10,000 pounds? How? Do tell.

STi's? Not WRX's?
