Lancer Evolution XI goes hybrid [merge]
I am super interested in this car... Think about it like this - why do we own an evo?
It handles better than most other cars on the road (especially in its price range)
It has a great power plant that works as a fantastic platform to build from
It is fun to drive
So, if this hybrid evo is a reality, and it is powered by a 300hp 4 cyl in the back and an individual electric motor for each front wheel, and has all sorts of new Mitsubishi handling gizmos added in what does that mean?
It means that we could essentially have a car that is rwd biased, has a huge amount of torque on tap for the front wheels, and probably handles better than any previous evo.
The tuning industry has always evolved, look where we'd be if everyone who said fuel injection was a waste of time in 60's won that arguement. Progress is inevitable, embrace it, don't fight it.
I for one don't care if my X has an electric motor, a turbo, no turbo, a fuel cell, or anything else at all.
If it can be tuned, if it is fast, if it handles well, and it looks good, I'm definitely on board.
Hell, how about a fully electric Evo XI? Audi's Etron concept puts out some crazy torque #'s, over 1000wtq - that's insane.

I try to find the source a mean time. I think its not a sport car though, but a normal dd car like camry.

You can always get a 2012 X...
As far as rally... I'm sure they'll think of ways. They are usually pretty creative. On top of that, a good rule of thumb is technology doubles every 18 months... 2013 is 36 months away... who knows what will be out by then.

the exact same rumors were around when they took the 4g63 out of the eclipse-that the new eclipse would be half gas and half electric drive, but just as quick as the GSX. Had drawing and everything. Never happened.
I feel the same way, I just don't see it happening. Most likely they are in the planning stages, still don't see why they wanna do this to the least green car in there whole line up they could have done it to that fancy concept RA they have.
