That article is just torture to American readers since we of COURSE won't be getting that car.

Plus lighter weight, upgraded suspension, hot new dark gray color, much more limited availability (will actually hold good value if you care about that), different wheels, aluminum roof.
And that's Super AYC, not just AYC, and automatic climate control.
I'd pay $36-38k for all that.

FTY SerialKiller 2.4 Liter for the EVO VIII
We're bringing out all this new stuff for you EVO guys, and we've been working on this one for a few days now. It's available, and it'll straight up kick you right in the ***. We take a brand new engine block, straight from mitsubishi, and stuff it with Internals so good, you'd swear grandma baked them in her oven! We start out with a beefy forged nitrated crank, then add custom CP pistons that pressurize your combustion chambers at 9.0:1 compression. Then, we take a set of Oliver Racing rods and connect the two together. On top of all that, we wedge clevite 77 bearings in there, wrap JE rings around the pistons, supply a new oil pump and gears, and eliminate the balance shafts. This is straight up the meanest engine available for your EVO. We're keeping a few secrets, since we're the first vendor to develop this engine. This is an assembled shortblock, available only for the EVO.

The MR is a result of the restructure of the Mitsubishi-Ralliart relationship and the way in which Mitsubishi's motorsport activities are handled. Details of this are a bit cloudy, even on the Ralliart website.
Anyhow, it looks like they will be using the Lancer in the WRC in 2004. However, information suggests that Mitsubishi will be using the CIIZ (C-2-Z) for rallying from 2005 on. Incidentally, two variants of the CIIZ were at the Tokyo Motorshow, the Tarmac Spyder being one of them.
All this would make sense since the CIIZ is of roughly the same dimensions as the Pug206 which ran rings around the Evo7. Also, the Tarmac Spyder also uses the same engine as the Evo.
So, then, it would look like the MR is the last Lance Evolution forever which means that it's prolly going to be very special in years to come.
Of course, this means that Mitsubishi will be leaving a big hole the in the market for Subaru.....

Here's where I got it from: http://www.evoclub.net/special/8mr/top.html
There's also a movie that you can view, a little different than the movies I posted earlier in this thread. You have to register to view it though...
