Evolution MR - Mitsubishi Racing [MERGED]
If they can't sell them now at $2000 under sticker, adding another $6,000 to $8,000 to the deal won't help. Even with the technical goodies, it doesn't have a chance.
Some dealers don't have any right now, are sold out and aren't getting anymore.. (That's like saying because a product is available after the feeding frenzy ends, its then "distressed merchandise" Not true.)
I think that
bringing the "RS" shows their willingness to keep this model as their "performance" model for at least 5-10 years to come..And they are developing cars utilizing the EVO's technology as as we speak which shows more dedication..
bringing the "RS" over is smart because it doesn't have as much of a cost to build ..since it is "stripped" (sorry RS lovers)..this should mean more profit..Maybe I'm wishfully thinking when I state this but..The EVO ain't goin anywhere for awhile..
The real uncertainty for me is due to
not bringing over the latest and greatest IE the MR with all the stuff...it shows that the 2003 EVO was VERY expensive to get US mandated and brought over, and they are going to "pull back" in a way for 04 with the "RS" arrival..

In Europe Mercedes has long option lists and it used to be common for people to preorder their car and wait literally 6-12 months until delivery. Americans would not usually put up with this or at least they say they don't. However they end up waiting for the best cars at least as long and often end up not getting them at all ... for a whole host of reasons.

All I am saying is that the option would be nice that's all. There are currently 3 model evo's: GSR, RS and MR. So far we got 2 models. Let's keep our fingers crossed( and toes and whatever else we can cross) to see if Mitsu wakes up and start smelling the coffee and send the MR this side of the globe
Ralliart MR was on display at the Tokyo Auto Salon

I guess it depends on what the MR would have? ACD? SAYC? 6 speed? etc. If we got the British FQ330. I'd assume > 29,999 ($55,417.15), but there are a lot of taxes and fees (~25%) and things internal to the price of autos there, so $42,000 is a good MSRP guess.
$40k might get you badest mamo jamo around with all the super goodness.

Looking at the UK Prices, and comparing ratios, a fully loaded MR (non FQ) in the US would be about $35,000. Seems reasonable to me...
Before we see the AYC though, Mitsu will have to figure out the packaging issues. The ORVR (Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery) system required in the US is right in the same spot as some of the AYC components. Just take a look in the driver side cubby hole in the trunk for proof of that. This is where the AYC resevoir would normally go...
