Evolution MR - Mitsubishi Racing [MERGED]
I wonder how many times that link has been posted?
Answer: way too many times
I think the Evo MR could be replacing the current Evo in the U.S. in late 2004 or 2005, instead of being added as a higher trim line. This would be similar to how the 280 MR is replacing the current regular Evo VIII in the U.K. very soon, with the FQ-300 MR and FQ-330 MR serving as higher trims.

Sooo..
Have there ever been 100+ page posts cus this one is well on it's way to becoming one!
I too called Mits and it appears Michael got an answer out of the gal because I couldn't even get a positive response about the blurb on the mits page..
And last time folks..
A "blurb" does NOT make anything official. I don't car what the call center says or for that matter what SPEED mag or Popular Mechanics or Better Homes and Evo's says the "facts" are on the "MR arrival."
It is PLANNED to be released in the fall.
But nothing official.
Yet.

You don't think a CEO giving confirmation to a news agency is official?

I'm sure some PR/marketing dweezle is miffed that the chief spilled the beans, but the chief says and does what the chief (or shareholders) wants..

I see your point but..
There have been a number of occassions(too many to list) where a CEO or high ranking official with a car manufacturer has announced the arrival of a car on our shores, only to be backtracking or providing explanations as to why it won't arrive as planned, or why it is pushed off indefinetaly..
If it is coming then
is doing a terrible job of announcing it.
I mean, it is newsworthy, right?!
HENCE: Press Release??!
This is why I am still skeptical. It leads me to believe that there is some "loose ends" that prevent Mr. O'Neill from opening his mouth any further than it is already.
Just my .02.

Thats the non trademarked name for Torsen.
Brief History:
Founded in 1984, the company was formed under the name Gleason Power Systems. This was a division of the Gleason Corporation. To see a history outline of the company, click on the hyperlink!
Gleason Power Systems was acquired in 1989 by Diesel Kiki, who then changed their name to Zexel. We adopted Torsen in the name to better distinguish what our division does as compared to the rest of Zexel Corporation.
Zexel Torsen, Inc. was a part of the global Zexel Torsen business which was majority-held by Robert Bosch Corporation since 1999. Torsen designs and currently manufactures the patented TORSEN® differential.

Just a final note on my post regarding the MR:
The whole time I was speaking to Melinda she would repeat over and over that she was giving me as much info as she possibly knew. I got the distinct impression that she wished she had more info herself. She also intimated that she was not that happy that information get's out like the Speed article. But she definitely also repeated over and over the MR is coming. The impression I got from her is that in general everything is getting pushed back 04's/mr because of timing/slower sales-
later. Michael-

However, it does constitute an announcement by Mitsubishi.
Given that the MR is already on sale in Japan it obviously refers to the U.S. launch.
I understand the skepticism and that nothing is for sure until we do have an actual official press release.
This is pretty good though.
The reason there's no Press release is that Mitsubishi dealers are sitting on a boat load of 03's. I went by one of the local lots late last night, and snooped around in the back. There were about a dozen of them sitting there. If Mitsu makes a press release about the MR, that could devastate possible sales of the 03's right now, and the dealerships might loose money on them in order to get rid of them. I guarantee you that if they can't get rid of the 03's then we will never see an official press release, and we won't be getting any MR's. What I propose is that all of you who don't currently own an EVO and don't care about the difference in the MR, go down to your local Mitsu dealership, and buy up the remaining 03's so we can get the ball moving! Please help us out here. Thanks
