So the main connector will still eventually drain the battery even if the AP is not connected.

FYI, i ordered the cobb stage 2 from IA yesterday. Cant wait.

Based on what I asked on the last page and what Rob said...I'm not really too sure if the dongles are hooked up to the obdport and AP is not connected if it would pull anything from the battery or not.....you would assume that the AP is the brains and if that isn't connected then even if the dongle hooked in to the port it couldn't drain anything....but I'm still not 100% on this.

Look forward the hearing how things go when you get your stuff .....did you order the exhaust too?

For clarification, the dongle does pull a small amount of power when plugged in. Even if the AP is not attached.

TheEvolutioner- Thank you for your order, we should have tracking on the exhaust for you tomorrow. Please let me know how else to help.

Rob@cobbtuning- do you know the draw the dongle alone creates? Similar to say an LED light, or a regular light bulb (for reference).

Any THoughts On THis...

about every 1 out of 6-7 times I want to view the Live Data section while in the car after it is "OKAYED" and the AP goes into "Trying to Communicate" mode prior to live data actually being read....it will come back as not able to communicate with ECU screen.

Then the very next time I go to select the live data again it will make it thru and connect....so seemingly a harmless problem.

Any thoughts on why it would do this and is this common to say the AP's for the subies / other evo AP's experiencing this?

Also...I ordered a boost gauge thru IA since the AP doesn't read out boost!!! Can't wait to get the STRI gauge installed ..........THANKS IA for HELPING me go bankrupt

Can't wait for my cobb tbe

I got my AP on Friday. I'm still trying to figure out why it's not making much, if any additional power. Using the Stage 1 93 map. it's at most just a hair faster than stock at a few places I use for testing this sort of thing. 81mph is now 82mph at most. On my previous Evo (VIII) with a 91 octane flash and TBE my before and after speeds were 80 and 86.

Maybe I messed up the vacuum hose taking out the restrictor pill, but boost looks normal. No knock either.

You might have a small boost leak maybe

Do a boost leak test just in case.

The dongle will generally have a smaller current draw than, say, your interior light(s). Even with the small current draw, depending on the type and shape of the battery, it is possible to drain the batter. We have guys here that leave there dongle plugged in 24/7 without issue. The catch is they run full sized battery's. We have not had very good luck with the smaller battery's keeping a decent charge even when no peripherals are plugged in. Just a thought.

Didn't IA send you out a different boost hose line?

I'm pretty sure that the new COBB line already has the 2nd pill removed and the main pill modded....which should do the job...if you didn't get that I would call either COBB or IA and get that line shipped out....it should remove any doubts that it could be something wrong with the line....of course it has to be installed right

The car should be completely different in how it feels from around 3200rpm up to redline....even more so on 93

I went to the dealer before I got the AP to have them do a boost leak test as Cobb suggests. They don't have one. They're the only place around here I can think of that would have one. I'm considering buying one, but it looks like more work than I'd like to do.

CPA5,
No, I didn't get a hose from IA. That would remove the doubt from that angle, but my boost levels look like just what Cobb says it should. I hit 1.4 (like normal) and taper down to 1.1-1.2. (MR boost gauge)

In playing around with the AP, uninstalling and reinstalling the map, and then Reflash and RealTime the maps in again I did notice something. I think it's Gabe from IA who said reflashes take about 4 minutes and RealTime takes about 40 seconds. When I did it, it was the opposite. LOL

I'm going to go outside now and play with it. The temp is almost above freezing now (I still have my summer tires on). I'll try the 91 map, go to stock mode, maybe even try the valet mode and see if anything happens.

Thanks to both for your help.

Well, valet mode works.

When I put in the 91 octane realtime map my car's boost spiked above 1.5 in 6th gear.

The realtime flashes I did for the valet, 91, and back to the 93 flash each took 4 1/2 minutes. Does it take anyone else that long?
