03 lancer es Evo 8 build
ok well at idle im reading like -20 -19 which is normal. yes it feels a lot slower. it will feel like boost for a bit but then change and go quieter and be as if my car was stock and reving up high. we disconected the battery, wouldnt that stop it from running in limp mode, plus it runs real smooth and sounded awesome when it was working good. i wasnt getting any different codes besides intake codes like high and low inputs or something 102 107 something like that, i have to see. we had to turn the idle up to 1000 when doing the tune bc the car wanted to die after being reved but i noticed that after driving it home like an hour it stoped doing that so i reckon i can put the idle back down dont u think?
Without any datalogs it's hard to tell what the problem is. Either the ECU is pulling timing in the upper RPMs or the power curve is flattening out early. At what RPM would you say the power falls off? 4000, 4500, 5000, 5500? Also, do you have a wideband installed?

i would say 4500 maybe but even still at lower rpms the power is also gone. i guess the code is bc i have no cats and also the intake was sucking in a lot of heat. my widenband is broke and i need to send it in for replacement : (
Second, perform a compression test on your motor. If you're losing power then you might have issues with sealing in the combustion chamber.
Third, pull the negative cable off the battery to reset the ECU and let the car idle for 30 minutes after reconnecting it and starting it up.
If you think that power is falling off at 4500 or so, then that is a bit low. The Lancer powerband typically begins to fall around 5500 or so, just before redline. Do you have a Tactrix cable or a copy of your ECU's current ROM? Send me a copy to look at, if you want. My email is my forum name -at- gmail dot com.
Ya I thought I remembered a while back you said you got a decomp headgasket but I just looked through your list on the first page and did not see anything on it?? If you didnt its possible you could have blown your stock head gasket.

In addition to what I said above, drain your oil to check for coolant and drain your coolant to check for oil to see if you popped your head gasket. Also, what do your spark plugs look like? Can you post a close up of what the electrodes look like on each?

ok first whats up with demolution??
second....oil and coolant are fine and i havnt blown my headgasket, nothing is smoking. its something to do with boost leak i think now bc yesterday i was boosting 1 pound the whole day even after letting the car sit and cool down. it didnt feel like 1 pound, more like 4 but still, something is messed up there. i used to spike 9 evertyime but now it never goes past 6 at all and it stayed at 1 yesterday through every gear. AANND it felt a little better too, i can spin though 2 again haha. still something is wrong but its not getting worse at least, only better. im going to get the parts from home depot today to test for boost leak!
i also want to say thanks to john from speed corps for putting the egg in my radiator and stopping the leak. haha i can drive again lol
by the way, does anyone have a radiator they need to get rid of. im going to try and evo 9 one this weekend.
spark plugs also look fine. greyish on the electrode
i got a tactrix cable and we will hopefully be doing that this weekend
also got a decomp test. what should it read
and i never mentioned anything about a decomp head gaskit bc i dont know much about that.
results will hopefully be here tomorrow whether its a boost leak or what so lemme get on it!

ughh i didnt do any of that lol, i didnt unplug the sensor or remove all the plugs or push the gas pedal down. i guess thats gonna make a big difference right lol
If you don't unplug the crankshaft position sensor the injectors will be spitting fuel into the cylinders. You also don't have to hold down the gas pedal, you can just stick the handle end of a screwdriver into the throttle body to hold the plate open.
