im not sure about the blowing engine thing - but if you take a look at the Dyno's that ROCK put it up. The boost started to kick in around like 1700RPM or something like that, so their isnt like any lag at all, or not too much.

I also have a question - when u hook up the rrm kit - does the turbo just automatically know what psi to do at or do u have to some how set it?

I guess we should stop talking about RRM's turbocharger on the RIPPMODS thread, but **** 'em if they want to keep holding off the supercharger and they don't want to post anything. i don't know. anyway, anyone got anything to say to those last few questions?

i got my rrm kit used but they come with a manual boost controller that i believe they set around 6psi for you. i turned mine down jsut below 6psi just to be safe.

A boost controller works by modifying the vaccuum that the wastegate spring sees. By doing that the gate "thinks" it's seeing 4 psi when it's at 6 or whatever else. So you can control it that way. Otherwise to control a wastegate you have to adjust the spring compression to "set" the boost level you want.

But that's pretty much the short version of how you control boost on a turbo.

Yeah, the greddy profec -b II is a digital/electronic boost controller that lets you choose multiple boost levels with a flip of a switch and runs about 300 bucks... the profec-eo1 can set different boost amounts at different rpms etc and runs around 400-500.

That won't really help you not mess anything up.. paying attention to your boost gauge and your EGT gauge are the best ways to not mess anything up.

If you really want to protect yourself from blowing an engine get a JandS Safeguard system for you car. They cost about 500 bucks but you'll have to work hard to take out your engine with that on the car.
