ok heres my 2 cents about the cranking issue. if you guys noticed, when you start the car
it only takes like not even a sec to start it (mine). with my stock ecu, its gonna take like a 1 1/2 sec.
im guessing it has something to do with the way the rom is "timing" the right moment to crank
and squirt gas at the same time. quick start at cold = late start at warm.
i think we need to adjust the rom to let it start a bit later at cold. who knows it might work.

I was just going to post that im still having trouble with my startups and its getting on my nerves!! So what table to we mess with? Yeah at cold start, as SOON as i turn the key only ONCE it starts no problem, i dont even hear the starter cranking thats how easy it starts when its completly cold. But when its fully warm or even a little bit warm, no luck, it cranks and cranks until it eventually starts up. What table would you suggest to start messing with?? I have tried the "IPW vs coolant temp" but no sucess there. Maybe the "compensation time vs starter %'' or whatever that other table is?

EDIT:: I just tried raising the values in the "IPW compensation vs time" table and still no luck. hmmmm.. any other idea's?

You know what I noticed? When I'm cold starting it's fine, but on a warm start....I typically just pop the key to on and let go...and it starts. I watched my wife turn the key when hot, and if you turn the key until you hear the car start, it wont when warm. I think it might be too much fuel right away and then not enough after a few seconds. So, I guess we might have the same problems, I just don't crank much. After my wife did the "too much key and not start thing" if she gave it a little gas, it started, so I'm not sure if my philosophy holds true, I dunno...I'll toy with it.

I am confused with your statement Hornstar. When warm you just blip the starter and it fires up you say? But if you hold the starter it wont start? If it fires right after kicking the key what would the reason be for holding it longer anyways? Sorry if I am missing something just a little confused.

Stange I can hear my injectors clicking when running but this has happened since day one after the build no matter my rom.

I havent had an issue with starting at all... it could be your settings, since im running higher rating injectors thats probably why. Plus the evo injectors are at 513 for the scale. The problem I want to correct is the lean issue when we start the car, and sometime when I drive around and stop my car will throw too much fuel in drop the rpms to 600 and raise back up to 1000 to stay there until stoich. It seems to happen once in awhile I wonder if its the stepper values. But whatever the problem is we need to revamp this rom to fit our cars. is there anyway we can try a earlier year rom I think the tephra is a evo 7 rom

Tephra V7 is just Version 7. The V7 options have been ported to many roms I am pretty sure I am using an evo 8 rom for my Tephra V7. Maybe something happen during the reassembly of the auto/Tephra rom. We should try and find some other auto lancers willing to switch to the "hybrid" rom and see if they get a starting issue as well. I dont see where this starting issue came from other than maybe something was shifted accidently during reassembly or maybe one of the addresses are not correct in the xml. Unfortunately I am no where near having the ability to start looking for errors in a rom althoug I am making headway in looking for tables

so basically what you're saying guys is that we, auto lancers are the only ones having
issues with the startup?

Pretty much yes. Even "link" is still having trouble with his startups since he has been using the v7 rom. Although hornstar had the exact same probs as us auto guys but he changed the scaling the and the values in the "IPW vs coolant temp" to match 03lances and he was set. I have tried to do the same but the car wont start, it just pours fuel in, my wideband after 4 cranks reads "10.0" So not sure what tables to adjust now because it seems the ones in the "startup" section i have tried to adjust all of them and making even massive adjustments doesnt do much. I did notice tho, in the "IPW compensation vs time" table i adjusted all the values to 75 and my car wouldnt start, so im guessing some of the tables work, but like 03lances stated maybe the "IPW vs coolant temp" or some of the other tables got directed in the wrong place making it harder to start the car. I deff want to figure out why this is happening.

Steven, have you tried to put in lower values in your fuel map at idle? the first collum in my fuel map are like 13.3 so when i turn on my car it idles more rich than lean. Is there a problem with having the car idle lean?
