Old News!! 4G64 Swapped Into A 2002 Lancer
I kinda knew that. But people getting engine swap from other place like ebay or other non local sites, won't have a VIN # or simply forgotten to write it down. I'm talking about these kind of people.
Also, isn't there some sort of security fail safe check that the dealership go through before making a key off a VIN #?
Ex: joe smoe thief sees an awesome 3g eclipse GT on a college parking lot. Read VIN off the dash . . . jogs to the neighborhood Mitsu dealership . . . ask for a new replacement key. There is a liability issue.

but for people that spend WAAAAAAAY too much money SHIPPING their motors from some other place...well, honestly...thats your bad. cuz i am sure thatthere are PLENTY of junkyards in your home area. Dont be affraid (not saying you in particular) to get your hands dirty. But if that IS the ONLY way to get your immobilizer, then where ever you get the immobilizer SHOULD have the VIN. Also, you can ask a mitsu dealership to help you as far as that goes. once a car is in the salvage yard, the DMV knows and so would the dealership. So giving them a VIN from a car that is in the junk yard, they would know that its dead and no longer on the road and hence, can not be stolen.
no. the lancer LSD would be too small (just barely tho).
come to think of it...
it should work!
cuz when u swap out all of the lancer's tranny internals into the G64's tranny bell housing..then you STILL have a lancer's gears and thus can still use the LSD...
my bad...
I didnt have the LSD in mine...over looked that
My opinion of the DOHC head swap is the gains won't be that great. Most of the available cam profiles aren't designed for Normally aspirated applications. HOWEVER, if your doing the swap, then putting the Evo head on it, with the expectation that you'd eventually install the rest of the turbo components is a fantastic Idea.
The stock Evo engine normally aspirated only produces around 160hp.. But you do get the DOHC, Better intake manifold, etc..

yeaps, there are... you have a few options with the 4g64 motor, the 1st, 2nd gen exhaust manifolds bolt right up to it and the evo viii and ix manifolds bolt right up to it. i'm not sure if you guys are gonna have clearance issues with it though? i have a 3rd gen, not a lancer so i wouldn't know on your car.
forgot if you swapped your ecu or not? but if you do, swap your lancer ecu with the 4g64 ecu *NOTE: MAKE SURE IT IS A 2001+ ECU* you can flash the ecu with ecuflash, there is a guy on www.club3g.com named flashbluers, who can reflash the ecu to give you more parameters like the evo ecu AND remove the immobilizer if you want. you just need the tactrix cable, laptop and to contact flashbluers to do whatever it is that you want. he does tuning too if you want, but you need some sorta datalogger like evoscan and a wideband, makes it easier.
kinda funny how i was looking for a cylinder head using the search and this popped up. well i hope it helps you guys some. oh yeah, on club3g there are a few who have attempted the evo head swap and have sucessfully done it. there is a guy on there who did a evo dohc swap and kept it N/A.
and oh yeah another thing that you guys might find interesting... the kia optima and hyndai sonata have similar cylinder heads! they are both dohc and can be swappable! don't worry it doesn't say hyndai or kia on them. there was another guy, sorry i don't remember their names, but he did a kia optima head swap and just swapped out the internals with evo parts. but if you go on there and search around you guys will find the threads about the dohc swaps and what's compatiable with the 4g64 motor.
