Will this swap work if you stuck with an auto tranny? If not the Lancer's auto., then could I use the one out of the 4G64 car?

I guess you're right but wouldn't it be a great sleeper without a stick.

I know how you feel... My engine and tranny are pushing 120k+ and I am leaning toward the engine swap. I haven't seafoamed my motor or flushed my tranny yet either

i've thought this over... and it should have been a no brainer the 1st time.... this is absolutely Theeee way to go... just the fact that the engine is cast iron vs our crappy aluminum (durability vs Lightweight) .... and the aftermarket support.... you will definitely be able to do 100 shot of nos too... im looking for this engine in the miami area.... my crew (all dsm!! ) has a shop so we are gonna port and polish it when i get it. When i go to car meets or races here (i watch but dont participate!!) .. NOn mitsu and even a couple evo guys find it "cool" that i have a turboed lancer ("i've never seen that b4!! " lol) so imagine if i did this.... and boosted it?? ......The light weight on a lancer + a heavy duty DSM motor ='s a force to be reckon with..............

Ownership my friends!!!

So just one more time, for the sake of arguement, will the 4g64 fit the automatic trannsmission found in our car? I don't want to swap for a five speed.

i spoke with the owner of this car about this issue.. cuz right now im auto. he said.. you need the bell housing from the 4g64... and you take the gears out of the lancer's auto tranny... and slap it right into the g64's tranny... DIRECT FIT!... and you just do the install just like he instructs..... im definitely doing this swap but im debating wether to do auto tranny or manny.......

IF you get an ECU from another car, but don't have the VIN, each eCU has a serial # that can allow a Mitsu dealer to make a immobiler key that will work. The S# should be on the ECU.

You can't just walk in with somebody else's VIN and have a key made without showing proof of ownership, or shouldn't be able to. Even if they do it, you'll just have a door key, because the new key has to be programmed to the ECU - so in other words the car would have to be there as well.
