So I'm looking for a manual transmission, but from what I've heard manual galant trannies are a lil rare to come by, so I'm still searching

Im auto right now... the whole friggin g94 unit is coming out.. motor and tranny, ecu. and my made over lancer will be manny!.... the advice i can give to you right now is..

1. Write down what you want to do... cuz a Plan is NOT a plan unless it is written.. so get a binder with some paper (of course)... and write down your project.. wether it is 4g63, g64, 420A, FWD, AWD or RWD.. just write it..

2. Research research research reasearch!! (Internet, Forums, ask your closest friend that is a mechanic lol)

3. Shop Manuals... they can be easily bought on ebay (as a cd) for 5 bucks as opposed to the hard copy @ the Stealership for 75$-100$.... If you get this far i can say you're kinda serious about the swap lol)

4. once u know what parts u need.. Keep your eyes on Ebay; and for sale sections in the other forums that have g64,g63, 420A cars; Car-part.com.. and visit your local Junk yards.. and start collecting those pieces!!!... your project will start to come together (collecting is a b*tch lolol) ..

dammit.......I need to find a close friend and get him a job as a mechanic. I need to find a buddy with FULL garage, and a full set of tools. That's my dream, my buddy now is like that, but his tools are back at home, which is not here, lol. He knows his ****, now we need someplace to bring our cars, and get the knowledge into our hoods, lol.

I'm on the verge of looking for places that have this engine, but, nobody appears to have a manny tranny from the Galant, and my brain is fried bcuz I keep looking for it, and I WANT a manual. My automatic keeps getting owned on shoot offs.....and I hate watching a 95 Corolla shoot past me, and then see me finally shoot pass it like 2 secs later, it's annoying lol

That's the thing, I'm not sure if I can just ise the galant engine and swap it, or if I should just use the eclipse engine. I'm still thinking about it, and if I do use galant, I dunno if I can throw the eclipse tranny right on, I'm doin my homework, and I got the composition notebook with my plans starting to come into effect, I'm trying to gather what I need, it's just the choice between those two and I'm just not sure what to choose, btw, I wish my g/f was as helpful as you are, lol.

A 4G64 from a 1999-2003 Galant is exactly the same engine as a 4G64 from a 2000-2005 Eclipse. It was also used in the 2003 Outlander. The only <noteworthy> differences would be in the ECUs and the intake manifolds.

Yes. The throttle bodies differ too, but they can be swapped also.

Hmmm.....well it seems that I have a little bit more to write about in my "notebook of swappage" lol. If I have any questions I'll look, and if I can't find the answer I know where to find you guys. I think that I'm just gonna go ahead and use the eclipse motor, and use the manny tranny from the eclipse, may serve as less of a hassle

took the words right outta my mouth.
also remember that if you're looking for a motor still...dont forget the 2000-2003? Dodge Stratus (SXT and ST models).

I remembered the engine, but my thing is that I've never seen a "hooked up" stratus, so I haven't seen any performance mods for it, I'll have to look though so I can see what my end result would be

Just for clarification purposes, the 1999+ Galants didnt come in manual so that is why you are not seeing them in manual. You would have to source the Eclipse. And the cranks for the autos and manuals are appareantly different from what I saw about 4 years ago when I was going to do this swap.

The route I was told by the guy who did the swap in a Mirage about 5 or 6 years ago and by a close tuner friend from Titan Motorsports is to try to get everything from one motor to make it easier. If you try to mix and match a Galant engine with the Eclipse tranny, it's not a simple plug and play as it would be if you got the entire Eclipse engine and tranny.
