Old News!! 4G64 Swapped Into A 2002 Lancer
Couple questions.
I understand that by switching gears from the lancer into the 4G64 bell housing it's a direct fit, this is cool. My problem is I have an auto transmission and I would like to swap to a manual trans.
So I'm wondering if I need to first find a manual '06 Lancer gear set to swap into the 4G64 manual trans housing, or can I swap my current auto gear set into the 4G64 manual trans housing?
I know the auto is a 4 speed and that the manual is a 5 speed, but could I just find the 5th and final gears somewhere else?
Even if that were possible would it be more time and effort consuming to frankenstein my trans than to just find a proper manual set up and use that instead?
I have a feeling the auto to manual thing won't work but I need clarification.
Thanks in advance.

1. HP to weight ratio is and has been an over site by MANY! the Lancer is aprox 330lbs LIGHTER than the eclipse. HP:Weight FTW!
2. I had Crower Cams and a Venom 400 program (chip/piggy).
3. ALL the Bolt ons.
4. ALL suspension mods.
i have been looking for that dyno sheet...i just fear that it was in the lancer when she was stolen...
lol, so I guess the real thing that everyone is worried about is no longer the engine swap itself, but it's the tranny, and how to make it work properly, bcuz that's where I'm at right now, I want to make it work, but i need to get the tranny to make it work right, sick of auto
Ya thats why people have been swapping the 4G63 head with the 4G64 or even swapping complete engines in the 3G, because the Eclipse is lighter than the Evo.
Ya and find that Dyno sheet the club3g peeps would love to see it..... it will put to rest alot of heresay on that site......everyone is so sceptical when it comes to NA power from the 4G64
no matter what, the g64 brings about an extra 30 hp than the g94, and since ruff was at 160 or so when the car was stolen, to me that sounds pretty good, the g94 has crappy gains with bolt-ons, right now I have headers, DP, cat-back, short ram and crank pulley, and I still get passed by pretty much everything. Only a turbo with the g94 does anything, and that's why I'm gettin rid of mine, but I'm gonna be using a different engine
ya, the 4g64 is a very stong engine, it will take just about anything u throw at it, some of the internals are even forged(brain fart right now cant think of which parts are forged stock) not the pistons tho but they are strong and the bottom end is tough as well.
