Question Spark Plugs

Hey, I need some help on spark plugs. Does anyone have any idea what kind of spark plugs I should replace my stock lancer with? My buddy said that I should get some Bosch platinums. Would this do my car any good or would it be just a waste of money?

it might do your car some good if you get the bosch platinum +4's and some aftermarket spark plug wires....also try and wire up an MSD ignition and youll be satisfied with the results, better combustion and more power ful spark leads to minor power and faster combustion. This is eaxactly what im doing to my car soon as i get the money.....but make sure you also get spark plug wires to harness the spark, or youll lose the power you hoped to gain with the bosch platinums.

What he said, and the fact that you don't necessarily gain power from electricals but rather response more than anything. You'll mash through the RPM's a tad faster. As for which MSD, I realize a lot of people will see this and think the Sport Compact Ignition (SCI), and with good reason but that simply won't work on a Lancer due to the fact the car doesn't have a distributor, so in light of that, you'll need the MSD DIS-2. As for plugs i already swapped out mine for NGK platinums. If you have any trouble finding plugs (doubt you will though), look in the owners manual and in the back it lists three stock number from Denso, NGK, and Champion. Give those numbers to your shop and ask for an iridium variant of one of three.

I would recommend replacing the plugs with NGK's. Working at a Mitsu dealer in parts, i see cars coming in all the time for rough idle and running, most of them have bosch plugs in them, and as soon as they are replaced with OE plugs, the run fine. It may sound like crap, but I would only run NGK's

I realy haven't figure out how to replace the wires yet, because there are only two of them. Two cylinders are direct fire and two run off of wires. I don't know what kind of effect high perf wire would produce. If you figure it out please let me know

i have been in contact with nology hot wires, which are honestly by best pick for spark plug wires and they have been asking for information on the lancer but everytime I get home to call them, i am too late seeing as i get home at 5 and they close at 430 and they arent open on weekends, so if someone wants to call Jeff at nology hot wires and work with him, im sure he can help us out, he seemed enthusiastic when he left me a message on my answering machine. so try and see if he might be willing to make us some.

Not so much an RPM response as a bit smoother idle and slightly smoother acceleration. It's nothing to go nuts about but it's noticeable. Just a cleaner burn of the fuel I suppose. Coils, cables, and an ignition will definitely do the trick though...Mitsu runs the car super lean, there was sooooo much black crap around the stock plugs for not even having it for a year yet. I'll check the iridiums to see how they look in about 4 months.
