Can I use a 4g64 auto trasmisson with my auto trans out the g9 to do this swap?

 

I just got started picking up my parts a few weeks ago, I can't wait to REALLY start my build too!!! I can't thank you or the forum enough for all the help. I have a question though from my post I think you might be able to help with. I know, the whole swapping out the diff to match the axles is brilliant, but I'm also planning the 5 lug/rear disc conversion. So, if I used the Eclipse knuckle/hub from my parts Eclipse, will I be able to skip swapping diff's??? I'm 99% sure the knuckle will fit (fronts only), aside from physically installing them. Need my car to drive for now, lol.

 

You ever check to see if the knuckle would swap over?

 

Unfortunately no, but comparing them side by side to the Lancer knuckles, they appear to bolt up exactly the same way. I'm still not sure if the Eclipse axles are the same lengths as the Lancer axles though. I still got a lot of spare parts to sell to save up for the tranny, pistons, rods, etc.

 

quick question, would i be able to do this same swap in my 05 lancer oz? i know its an old feed but need some help

You're the kid on FB, lancer group, that just did this swap? Having issues? I thought you had it running? Anyways, I don't see any reason why you can't use your lancer ECU. As long as it's an ECU from a manual lancer. Then you could just flash an Evo rom on your lancer. Go to the first page, and make the appropriate changes to the xml and the tables he specifies. Then you just have to do a little data logging

 

Yeah that me! Lol.. it does run, but im having a spark issue in cylinder 2 & 3... And im not sure if being a 2.4l swap and using the lancer ecu, that maybe the ecu cant read the crank sensor proper on the 2.4... plus im short on funds, so using the stock lancer ecu would do great justice if possible.. im trying to find out if anyone with this swap used the stock ecu!???

 

Hey guy how are you guys going on the swap? For the transmission i didnt open it up i just swapped the tulip part of the axles over to the lancers axle that way it fits in the tranny anyway, I havent worked on the car since i am having trouble making the custom motor mount. can anyone tell me how they did it? pictures?

I am trying to figure one thing out currently. What oil filter to use when upgrading to a 4g64?

 

Any parts store can tell you. go ask for an oil filter for an '04 eclipse with the 2.4L engine.
