coming from somone with an si i really dont see why everyone thinks they are so fast...sure its quick for the price you pay for it...but saying it'll just walk all over a lancer with some mods really isnt true..you guys give the civic too much credit..

ive been walked on by my si with a slighly modded 03 Eclipse GTS

well the 03 Eclipse GTS does 210 HP @ 5750 RPM and 205 TQ@ 3750 RPM stock. And you said slightly modded. So i guess it wasn't a problem for the GTS unless you were modded too

true but the driveter. % loss is more on the GTS than it is the si..

and i have intake and exhaust on the si..to give you more of an idea of how realistic an si is...just a few cars ive lost to that you probaly wouldnt think, the eclipse 03 GTS, an 07 eclipse GT,Acura TL (07ish), audi A4,Hyndae tiburon (07),Nissan Altima,Cobalt SS,Chrysler crossfire

Turboing a car not designed for boost always comes with risks but it completely depends on how far you push it. If you want to run 20 PSI through a 20g, don't expect the motor to last very long but if you're happy running 8 PSI through a 16g, it could last a long time (ie. as long as you own it) with increased maintenance. Plenty of 2003 guys are still running strong because they didn't do anything stupid and they had realistic expectations and goals. A 300 hp lancer is essentially equivalent to a 600 hp evo (double the stock power) and will come with it's own problems. If you just want a faster car, save yourself some trouble and buy a faster car. If you like your lancer, only you can decide what is worth doing. Remember, every dollar you spend making it faster is a dollar that could have gone to paying it off, making it handle better, making it look better or buying a different car.
To answer your other question, I'm 22.

I'm not shocked at any of those cars. The 07 Eclipse has a 200+ hp motor (I think it's 260), the TL is a sleeper, the A4 has anywhere from 170 hp to 250 hp depending on the exact model, the Tiburon is close in power output, Altimas are another sleeper car, the Cobalt SS has more power stock than the SI and the Crossfire is an actual sports car.

It was about 33000$ but with financing will be closer to 40000$ assuming I take the full 5 years to pay it off (which I'm hoping I won't). Insurance is about 2600$ a year (although I suspect that will go up with my recent ticket) and it currently costs close to 80$ to fill the tank from empty. With that 80$ I get about 500 km of mostly highway driving.

thats not bad for a WRX. Mine 08 Lancer GTS comes up to $48000 for 7 years at 9.03% interest considering i traded in my 02 2.0l jetta for minus $3500 on what i owed on it. that gets added on to the lancer + taxes and interest. i pay 574 a month for 7 years

wow interest is a killer..thats insane..i got my gts at 2.9% pay 330 a month but im seriously considering trading both my si and lancer for an evo x or a ralliart. im never going to trade the supra im keeping that untill i get old...i really would like to eventually have somthing fast like evo x and a luxery like an audi or somthing by the time im about 23 considering im in college right now and i only see my supra and civic about once a month.

but i have a business starting soon and if that takes off good ill have plenty cash to spend..and still then i dont think i would trade my lacner..id like to build the car myself..build the internals up..use it like an example for others to follow..

Jesus christ that's a lot for a GTS, you can get an STI or an Evo for that price.

lord, your getting raped by the bank and the insurance company, what company are you with. I feel so bad now, you should talk to my agent, someone has to have a better rate then that. my girlfriend bought a GTS she has two accidents one her fault and she pays 200 living in scarborough lol. my insurance for the GTS is 110 with no accidents . being 27. even if I was 24 it came up to 150

How the F*#(*$# do you pay 500

i have gone through many cars and many mods. from the ricer bolt on's for NA cars to builing my own 600+hp motors.

the truth is that bolt on mods for non turbo 4 cylinder cars are a 100% waist of time and money. they will yeild little to no gains expically on the lancers ecconomy engine.

if you want to go fast either buy another car or turbo charge your car. i sugest leaving your car alone and appreciating what the car as it is. and if you want a faster car buy another car. and if you must the last option is to boost your car but i do not sugest to do so because you lack of knowledge about these thing will only give your headaces down the road
