Ok guys i need some help here. My friend has a Stock 07 Honda Civic SI M/T and he wants to drag race. What chances do i have against 200hp and 138 tq? What can i do to beat him? He is a good driver too! vs Honda

I love how people think that those who own an SI don't mod. Unless you get a turbo its pretty much over haha these mods that are out will not put out 50 extra horses

 

go for gusto and hope he miss a gear!!...well it would seem he has more hp and car weighs less, i dont see any way of beating it unless u get some power mods, and liek they said get that turbo kit....but i wouldn't do all that just to make my car faster than a civic...

if your car is good for you than keep it as is...there are tons of cars you can beat, and tons you cant...no matter what car you have it will always be that way

 

First, enough of the "buy an EVO" comments. Those were removed.

With that out of the way, race him. See what happens. If you lose, oh well. Once the turbo kit from RRM is available and if it is within your budget, buy it and race him again.

 

you will need a head start, after seeing the type S on the dyno machine having comparable mid range TQ levels, your definately going to need a head start. And he better be real slow with the shifts.

Once he gets over that 5000rpm hump and the VTEC kicks in, thats when the monster has you lol.
In the beginning your TQ advantage gets you out in front, but he will not be far behind and will evenutally over take you with ease as long as he doesnt screw up his shifting

 

Turbo it, that's realistically the only way you can beat him in a fair (ie. not the result of a crappy driver) race. As a side note, if the only reason you're modding is to beat another car, just go out and buy a faster car in the first place.

 

I really don't understand those who buy a lancer and worry about being faster than other cars? *shrugs*

the K series is a proven engine, i wonder what kind of performance we can expect from turboing the new lancer engine.

 

Depends which model you have, the 5 speed or the CVT.

 

honestly, if you wanted a car to race, you should have bought an evo...regular lancer can beat some but cant as well

as i posted before..i think a 09 2.4 GTS with a good amount of mods such as Works brainflash,intake,exhaust,headers,pully

i think that would stand a damn good chance vs a si

even though i know other factors come in to play..

 

lol there will always be cars faster than the car you have... unless ur extremely rich... lets say you bought a Lambo... and ur friend has the enzo... get the point? even super cars have cars that can beat it..

 

thats one rich group ur talkin bout. im just gonna throw intake , exhaust, and those spark plugs, and a cf hood. ima race circuit though. that will add around 20 extra to the wheels. pretty sure
