Actually a lot of people deal with denied claims, they just don't take the time to ask their broker before hand.
No one is afraid of change, we're just tired of people coming on here, making claims and then leaving. It happens time and time again, people say they're going to convert their auto to manual or swap in the Evo engine or convert to AWD and, not surprisingly, they never post again when they realize what it actually entails. If it was cheap to convert a Lancer into an Evo, why would Mitsubishi even bother making the Evo? I remember a thread where someone priced out all the parts on an Evo and it came to something ridiculous, like 50000$ ridiculous.

I guess the $11 000 dollar oem dealer replacement seats dont help lol...

You are right though, if you cannot obtain parts for low cost, do body work, engine swaps ect. Then its smarter just to get an evo... You get hit big time in the labor department obliviously so If you cant do it yourself, it becomes not worth it.

I would be very surprised if it worked out to be "worth it" even if you can do all the work yourself.

OK here's my input.

Yes I am doing the whole AWD drivetrain swap. And believe me when I say this, It takes a lot of modification. In fact, I am not even using any rear suspension components from the EVO in the sense that the base Lancer rear end (frame, body structure, component placement) is different enough from the EVO.

Amby is correct in what he says... a swapped Lancer is nothing but a swapped Lancer. It will NEVER be an EVO, and NO ONE will be able to pull off parading a swapped Lancer as a real-deal EVO. I believe that it can be considered a fraudulent act if you do try to pass a swapped Lancer as an EVO in the basis of selling it for what an EVO is worth.

I don't have a build thread on here because I don't want a barrage of messages from everybody asking me how to do this build. I will say this only once... if you have the resources, time, patience, knowledge, money, and commitment to accomplish such a build... you would NOT be asking questions on here on how to do it.

If I did start a thread on EvoM, it will be nothing but pictures of the completed build.

Good answer, the people who accomplish these things never post on here asking about them, they just do what they want to do. I don't see much of a point in turning a Lancer into an Evo carbon copy, you might as well save yourself the headache and buy the damn car. However, a swapped Lancer sounds really cool if you keep the original exterior.

Excellent! Do the build because you want to, not because you are trying to fool somebody or trying to sell the thing for a profit later on.

OKay im not asking anyone how to do it, i KNOW im doing it for under 4k with EVERYTHING but drivetrain. I was telling the guy who was asking if it was possible, yea it is. I am in the process of doing it.

2003 Lancer ES 800$
Evo 8 Bumper 150$
Evo 8 MR seat set 300$
side skirts 50$
rear bumper 100$
18" 350z wheels and tires 150$
Fenders 300$
MR Headlights 400$
Evo cluster and center consle 50$
wheel adapters 200$
Hood and latch 100$
turbo kit(tuned) 900$
D/S rotors and new brakes F/R 100$

Not awd, but still way sick and a cheap build. it wasn't 20,000$ like most evo are.
Hopefully I can drive it for a while to save money for a real Evolution. I don't want to make payments. And i posted an album so far of what i have installed, more coming in a week or so.

You're not doing everything, all you are doing is making it look like an Evo, much like a body kit. You're missing the drivetrain, the brakes, the suspension, the interior, etc. Moreover, have you checked that the 350Z wheels will even fit? I'm fairly certain the 350Z uses an offset and a bolt pattern that isn't compatible. Also, how are you getting a turbo kit for 900$? With that kind of cost, you're either talking about a heavily used kit or a completely crappy "new" kit. 900$ barely covers the cost of the turbo let alone the rest. I'm always amazed that people think they can do better than all the manufacturers.

Well he can get a turbo kit for $900 if he gets used parts and some really good deals on parts. I don't agree with trying to copy an evo but hey it is your money, do what you want...

Cheap and cool are not two things that usually hang out together

Yeaa, the Z car is 5 bolt and is like a 30 offset.

I think I get it. He just wants to drive something that LOOKS like an EVO. Can't really blame him though... there are a lot of people, even on here, that try to make their base Lancers look like EVOs. Most strap on the EVO wing (I admit, I made this mistake early on myself), trying to justify an aerodynamic advantage even though in the end some find out that it doesn't really do anything for the base Lancer but hamper it. But people put the wing on for the obvious reason... it makes the car look closer to its performance-driven brother. In conclusion, this guy can't afford an EVO outright at this moment, so his intention is to make his base Lancer look like one. As long as he doesn't try to rip someone off by selling it as an EVO later down the road, I see no problem with what he's doing.

It sounded like that was the plan though, which is just wrong. I just don't understand the idea of making a car look like something it's not, there are plenty of nice mods for the Lancer that make it look great without just being a sad remake of an already existent car.

I want an Evo too but not enough to risk becoming someone's prison ***** for.
Where is this supposed album with pictures? The only pictures I've seen so far are not a work in progress and they're not even clearly Lancers, they could just be stock Evos.
