Its not as hard as it sounds, but dont get me wrong it will be a ***** of a project.
But i think the outcome will be well worth it.
to be honest, I had no doubts and evo front end can be swapped onto a lancer. However i don't think you have completely grasped how big a project the engine swap would be.

The couple of 4G63 engine swaps that where done cost about $10,000. Now considering you're wanting a V8, plus converting to RWD. You're easily looking at well over a $25,000 project

Also spending that amount on a base lancer would possibly be the biggest waste of money since digital tv coupons.

Not that I'm squashing fun, new, original ideas. I just know that what your suggesting is completely ridiculous, and will never happen. We might as well be talking about swapping an airplane engine into your car.

Okay, so would you like me to show you how to do it for 15oo$? I will look up the tranny and engine size and measure it out and let you know if i can show you how. Hopefully it will fit within the walls of the engine bay, if not it will be a supercharged v6 setup off of a ford tunderbird.

if you have a spare $15,000 and think you can pull this off for that amount...go for it.

do you own a shop? are you a professional welder? do you have the ability to fabricate your own parts?
if not then it will cost a hell of a lot more than $1,500.

Again, you're not converting anything and I never said it was impossible, just a waste of money. You're bolting body panels onto a Lancer, that's not difficult. Swapping a completely different drivetrain in takes real mechanical skill and a butt load of money.

Sure if you buy a beat up motor, a tranny on it's way out, use superglue to hold it and do all the wiring yourself, hell even then you'd likely be over budget.

Sorry my brother is a ford fan and the t-bird he has, has the independent rear suspension. The whole rear end on the t-bird basiacally unbolts completely.

Haha im not a professional at anything really, but know enough. I have made up my mind. 3 months and i will show you a running a running V8 Lancer. Believe it or not. And i will post the costs of everything, im finishing the rear end body work this week. And next week i will start looking for the donor car.

I'm sorry but if you knew "enough", you wouldn't be asking us for help/advice. A lot of people have come on here and claimed to be able to do something big and they either never post again, or they change the subject every time it's brought up. What you are suggesting is beyond a big build, it's an insane build. Even people doing relatively mild things like turbo swaps, known engine swaps, etc. take a long time. We have a guy in the club swapping an STI drivetrain into his RS, a relatively common and understood thing. He's been working on it for a year or more and has yet to have a fully functional, complete car. Obvious problems you will encounter, physically fitting the engine into the bay. After that, you'll have weight issues. From there you'll have cooling problems. From there you'll have electrical problems, from there you'll have to somehow figure out how to fit the transmission in and have it line up such that it'll work the cable-driven shifter and fit in the interior. From there you'll have to figure out how to get the driveshaft to extend to the rear wheels. From there you'll need to basically custom make the rear end. This isn't a mild project you can just do for ****s and giggles, it's a major undertaking and if you think what you've done so far is anywhere close, you need to take a step back and run it through your head again.

Lol c'mon have some faith. This world is full of lies and what-ifs, but ya never know. Its hardly believable, but if it does happen...then what?

If it does happen, and he does it all himself, he should open up a damn shop.

Haha well i wasn't asking for advice. Just what you guys think about it. And its appearant, other than doctorjon, your cool. All you others who dont believe. Im telling you i will have a running V8 Lancer ES in 3 months. As far as the shop, haha i cant get a loan for something like that. And who would want to leave thier 30k car with a 19 year old claiming to throw a V8 in it. haha I wouldn't. But I will show you guys what i can do in my own garage.

Nobody here thinks it's a "bad idea", it would be a cool car but it's not realistic.

Okay and i know its possible, i looked up measurements on a few engines and they all would fit in there easy. The tranny will be a tight sqeeze if i dont have to cut anything. Wiring will be a pain in the ***. And the rear end work i dont think will be too bad, i just have to make sure everything is perfectly straight and supported well. But i am serious, i will show you a running Lancer with a V8 in 3 months
