you right.. but you would be basically only useing the car for a shell.. so why not use a lighter shell or a custom rolling cage. you would have to fabricate everything anyways.. why spend all the time with a lancer shell when you could use something much better equipt for the swap.. if the motor/power is all you want.. keep the nice DD.

literally your just useing the body as a shell... none of the wiring, or drivetrain could be reused on the v8, it would still all be fabricated from scratch, so why spend all that time? trying to show off your fabricating skills to someone? if your a fab shop i could understand, but other then that.. why do it.. and im not knocking you, i think its cool.. just dont understand why u would spend the time with a swap when you could buy the car with the motor and go from there..

Bingo, you could buy a Mustang with a blown motor, swap the good motor in and voila, you have a fast project car.

yep.. thats what im saying..

ive always thought about doing a evo swap.. but there isnt a point its cheaper to sell my car and buy an evo.. doing anything else, like a v8, is just showin off fabrication skills.. i mean if i want a RWD drift car, ill get a 240.. if i want a drag car that i can drive on the street, ill get an evo.. but my car use to be a good DD.. now its a good DD with a weird power band that pulls like crazy on the highway..

motor swaps are always cool. but at the cost your looking at.. unless your pocketbook is the size of the grand canyon, i just dont see a reason to do it.. it is just a lancer, not trying to say a v8 lancer isnt cool.. whats the point.. its just going to be heavier, get worse gas mileage and still wont be fast. just turbo the single cam and have fun, do it right, or do it the cheap way.. u will like what u come up with untill u can get a bigger, faster, scaryiererest car you can afford.

if you do a v8 swap i exspect tons and tons of pictures, because i would be very interersted in the process.. i just dont see a good reason to do a swap of any kind on our cars, there are other ways to make power..

good luck yo you, i cant wait to see pics of your process if/when you do whatever..

your evo outside looks amazing, i really love how well it came out, i would never notice that it was a lancer without really looking into every aspect of the car. amzing job.

I would say, one, if I had the parts leftover, given to me, or for cheap, I could do this kind of conversion to the exterior. I would also do this if I found a lancer in the shape that it needed body work like the guy whos doing it, it would very much be worth it. I doubt I would go awd with anything, but I would stay fwd with a nice transmission. I'm looking into some options on that.

Thank you Demon for the compliment. It has come a long ways. But im going to have to replace/rebuild the engine soon anyways, there is a small rattle i think on the bottom end haven't really looked into it yet though. and its not a manual which sucks! auto are no fun. And it would accelerate way better than any fwd ever would if it was rwd

You grabbed my attention fearthisrc. Quick question, would it be easier to use the evo's radiator support or the es one? Oh, from a few posts ago, I do have pics of that one lancer that was on ebay that had the front end conversion. Looked good in the front, didn't quite do well in the back. Heres a few pics I've found over the last few years of the conversion

Last pic is a comparison photo of the radiator supports. Top on is es/ls/oz 02-03 lancer, second is evo, 3 is of the red conversion above, last is of an 04-06 lancer.

For the rear you need the quarter panels, doors, tail lights, and bumper.
Other than that I believe it's welded on not bolted.

New radiator support for sure! and nothing on the back is a direct bolt on. At some point in time you have to do some sort of body work, if you are using Evo parts.

Making the rear end look more aggressive like the Evolution is easy if you are a body man that knows how to fix cars that have body damage. I think if you had all the parts from the Evolution like fearthisrc does you could pull off the same effect. All fearthisrc has to do now is look for a good body shop that will do custom work and make it look like the Evolution. I would have done the same thing, but i was saying nah i should just turbo it. Most of my family owns collision shops.

I definitely like the newer front ends, but not the interior or back end. So its my ideal Evo. They put a lot of work into that one too. I like it.

I've only thought of two reasons I would want to do it.

1. Looks great
2. I can use huge rims and tires.
