This swap is definitely possible. But not with the budget and time you gave yourself.
I'm taking electrical automotive right now (go to UTI) and lets just say, trying to make a custom wiring harness will take you more than 3 months.
You need to know what the difference is between series, parallel and series parallel circuits. How many volts, ohms, amperes, and resistors you need in each connection. That's just off the top of my head.

I am rooting for you and want you to pull this off. Oh and I have the diagrams but can't figure out a way of sending it to you since my scanner is effed up.

You'll have to do custom wiring if you plan on integrating a Mustang engine with a Lancer ECU/electronics.

So you need the ECU wiring harnesses and diagrams for both cars right?

If so I'm not sure I can send you 100+ pages.
I would recommend getting a service manual for each car, that way when you run into an issue the solution will be right in front of you.

Chilton and Haynes doesn't make a repair manual for a Lancer. Or at least at the places go

It's hard to find service manuals for the Lancer. Your best bet would to just go to a stealership and get it from them.

Me thinks what you need won't be in a service manual. Your best bet is to run a full standalone ECU for the mustang motor and tune it to work with the Lancer electronics (if needed). Of course a good standalone costs 1000$ so that's two-thirds of your budget gone right there.

I highly doubt that will work unless they magically use the same voltages.

http://www.alldatadiy.com/buy/index.html. It has the whole repair manual online where you can print all of the documents you need. The only bad thing is it expires after the subscription. If you have time i would print out all the documents at a library before it does expire and you'll have the whole Repair Manual for our Lancers.

Cut out most of the old mounts and weld new brakets and a new rear support and the gas tank will be moved to the trunk.

Let's keep this on topic please. This is about a build. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Good luck with this. I will be impressed if and when it is finished.
