2008 Lancer "pulls to the left" Issue Petition
Hey all,
I'm glad I found this thread, I thought maybe it was just me.
My car (GTS) has drifted to the left from the beginning. A couple of weeks ago, I put on winter tires and steel rims and the problem was gone.
I had a look at the rims themselves after I changed the tires and I noticed a bunch of small weights on the inside. I could be wrong, since I only glanced at them momentarily, but I recall there being less weights on one of the rims than the other three. Could this have anything to do with the issue?

I took my Lancer to the dealer today to get alignment because it pulls to the left. They told me the alignment was off on the front end a little and on the rear end alot. I HAVE NEVER HIT ANYTHING WITH THE FRONT END. My car has been pulling to the left ever so slightly from the beginning when I wasn't able to tell for sure until now when it has progressively gotten worse to the point where I had to take it in.
I bumped a curb with the right rear a little while back. This bent a camber bolt and took the right rear out of alignment. Surprisingly, the car didn't pull either way any more or less. Recently, I rotated the tires. The right rear wheel with curb rash was now on the front right. When I took the car in today the dealer service manager told me that the warranty wouldn't cover the alignment. This is understandable for the rear because I hit something. But they insist I am the reason the front end is out of alignment. Can you believe he even suggested that maybe hitting the rear wheel on the curb knocked the front end out of alignment! I wasn't born yesterday.
Good news is the bolt was only $9.00, which they had to order. 4-wheel alignment is $79.00. I'm considering taking it to a local suspension shop instead. It's the same price and I'll be able to actually watch the mechanic do the work and not have to leave my car for the day. The mitsu dealer would have to take it to a suspension shop anyway because they don't have the necessary tools.

Basically, I was just annoyed that I paid to get an alignment on my car only to hear "yeah, I couldn't change the settings on camber or caster, so those are just going to remain misaligned." Obviously it's not the mechanic's fault, but it's frustrating nonetheless.
O.K.
First, sorry to hear about all the folks with this problem.
Second, the dealer's do not know what the F they are doing. I say this because of the OP's coment about the dealer showing him a print out saying it is in spec. You need to go to a real suspension shop and have them dial in the alignment. If you are in georgia, give gran turismo east a call. they are hands down the best. http://www.granturismoeast.com/
I had no less than five alignments done on my evo when it was new. two by mitsu, one by subaru of gwinette, one by some tire shop, and finally I went to gran turismo east. Never been anywhere since. Just because the machine says everything is in spec does not mean ****. If they knew anything about alignments they would know that.

it's not an aliment issue its a rubber issue . Switched tires and the pulling to the left dissapered !!!
read up in the thread, i have changed my tires and my wheels and then stock wheels with winter tires and it still pulls and so have others. but could an alignment shop easily install the RRM Camber kit if i was to bring it to them? is it just swapping a not adjustable piece with an adjustable piece? because i think i might just get that and get a nice alignment and just f$%@ mitsu.
I'm with ya. I'm sure the alignment shop can install the rrm camber kit. You could probably install the kit too. Ballpark the settings, drive it to the alignment shop and let them precisely set it up.
You know, I'm going to unstick this. This "petition" is going nowhere, and the OP hasn't even come back. The point of having a petition is to SHOW it to someone and get changes made. Not to slap it up on the web and ignore it.
