Evo X vs. Evo VIII and IX
Also i might add the fact about the stationwagon trim.
Please consider not rehashing a IX vs X debate, as you seem to be trying to do. The replies are driven by the sheer stupidity in the novel that brought the thread back and the absurd followup arguments. All from the same individual. No one is insulting your car. If you must, please refer to our previous discussions and their respective outcomes. Nothing has changed.
This essentially equates to trolling.

What is this, high school? Let's include every market in the universe, just because the letters fit.
Because, that's equally as relevant and none of us has heard of either. You were the first to inform us as to existence of the two trims outside USDM. Like for real?

I just fixed your false statement, that is all. I know it hurts pride, but all fairness you bought it up.
I had my opinion before that, which is if you read it it is not a debate between the trims. Its based on my personal experience.... how about yours?
And as i stated many times all the evos are equal, it is up to you what you make out of them.

I'll repeat the ending paragraph from my last post:

FJF, remember what you said on another thread. Basically if you are not the first to make or do something its not considered an accomplishment. You my friend are a piece of work.
Stating that because Mitsubishi didn't invent the DCT that it was not an accomplishment for them to have implemented it in the Evo. Wow! Your are very inept.

Reading this thread (after being absent for years on it), made me realize how childish Evo owners can be. Everyone needs to grow up here. Should be getting along, not arguing.
End of the day, this debate is silly. The Evo CT9A is never ever ever coming back. Government changes have seen to that. The X is a great compromise and does things as well or better in SOME cases. The CT9A is a great car and so is the CZ4A. Can the CZ4A rape as much as the CT9A? Not really. Can the CZ4A keep up / beat the CT9A on the road course / rally? Yes.
Seeing the whining and fits thrown really make me want to sell my car and hang with a more mature track crowd. And unfortunately, I think that crowd doesn't exist in the auto world. Perhaps time to sell my Evo, and focus on MX 100% again. Least those guys let their results prove things, not their words.

You said the automatic was an "accomplishment" for Mitsubishi. Define "accomplishment" without them being first to design the product or the first to implement it, aggregately. What, then, is the accomplishment? A ~$9,000 replacement cost and a lack of tuning proficiency? Nice.

That makes sense...looks like I have to reevaluate my entire life

I used to be a pretty hardcore IX guy but I too finally came around to the X. I felt like manning up and posting about why I ate my words and got an X.
I kept thinking I wanted a hardcore rattlebox.....I didn't as much as I thought. Honestly.... I thought I wanted a tin-can with AWD and no weight. I had an IX. Loved it but we parted ways after the value jumped above what I paid for it while my foot was broken. But I was wrong to sell it. Now I have an X.....
The X handling didn't seem to get worse and a lot of other things got better. Things I didn't think I liked even..... Given the better spool capability it somewhat hides the weight and in the corners it feels slightly more confident due to said weight. Especially in the rain. It doesn't slide all over the place like my IX did. ASC helps tremendously there as well when I'm driving spiritedly but not looking for the best lap time. AYC seems to let me apply more power earlier without fighting the rear end on corner exit. The seats are better and hold me in tighter. My only interior complaint is the center console is too low to rest my elbow on while driving. Big deal
. I like having bluetooth and a USB jack for tunes in the dash. The SS package sound system is quite nice for a factory setup. FAST key is also a nice new touch.
I'd take either but the X isn't as bad as I used to think. I never bought an Evo for looks or to get compliments but in my 2012 X I'm hearing things all the time. I kinda like it after having people think my IX was worth $2400 when I told them I sold it for "twenty-four"
. No one ever noticed my silver IX and it pretty much just blended in even with a payment almost as high as the X.
My only complaint is that I got a new car so I'm somewhat afraid to trash it. Back when I had my IX I wasn't worried at all about breaking anything since I wasn't in warranty. I drove it harder and modded it soon after getting it. I wasn't afraid to self-tune it and the car was forgiving of basic mistakes. I hear the X is a bit easier to blow up with bad tuning so I'm less inclined to self-tune until it's paid up. I want to do more track based driving instead of drag racing. Handling and ride are more important than straight line power. Safety in the rain and more airbags for my woman also helps.
When I fell in love with the X I just realized that *I* was not as hardcore as I thought. The X fits me perfectly. There I ate my words. All those harsh things I said if you just search my posts on this matter..... I was wrong. The X rocks! I have more faith in Mitsu for the next Evo 11. They didn't ruin the 10 after all......
