Evo X vs. Evo VIII and IX
there was any evo X there with a good driver, like Ryan Gates? I dont see any Evo X there
"We may not have known anything about the car, but we do know The Man. For some time now Ryan Gates has been crushing the US time attack scene. He looms larger than life within the Mitsubishi community because of his accomplishments behind the wheel of his iconic blue Evo X. Here are just a few of his notable exploits. In 2009 Ryan took home eight track records and won both the Super Lap Battle and the Redline Time Attack Modified Class Season Championship with an unprecedented 100 percent win rate. While 2010 was a rough year for Ryan, plagued with mechanical difficulties, he pushed on with the development of his AMS Performance 900X engine package. Last year saw more success with an extremely gear-limited 180.0mph pass at The Texas Mile, which was good enough to earn the title of world’s fastest Evo X. Ryan also showed up to our Global Time Attack at the Autobahn Country Club taking both the Limited AWD win and the class record with his 1:30.692 lap."

anyway, just listing results - you do pose a good question though, which is where are the X's? In any class for that matter - including Gates

When Gates ran in (NASA) TTA (not the limited awd class mentioned above) he broke the record at the Autobahn with a 1:33.6, which the 929 TTA 9 (also in blue lol) broke in 2010 (1:33.1), and then again in 2011 with a 1:32.1 which is the current TTA record there.. but we don't have to get into records vs records for X vs IX - TTA is a fairly limited class but like we've already said, you pick the platform and you put the money in. Once you put in the rear diff for the CT9A though, which is what the 929 evo did in 2010, IX vs X is fair game. I'd easily give it to any X if there were no rear diff mod for the IX.

Look like there was none in that race, or maybe they had a dnf.
another mini race report - Marty Grand (IX), who was the SCCA T2 (mild class, stock turbo) national champion in 2010 and 2011 was second this year
even after suffering brake failure in the middle of the race - 1st place went to a mustang 5.0 =] - mgrand runs a tre 1.5 way fyi =D

It's not even close in my book. 9>8>X. For the simple fact that I have not once thought "oh I wish my car was heavier and automatic." I have NEVER envied a X. In fact, when I'm on the freeway and spot a X I try and not make him feel bad by blowing his doors off. Because after all, we both love Mitsubishi's.
Start at 4 mins sunshine. (That's straight from
) PS as a noob trying to learn about Evo's this mindless arguing about "YOURS SUCK!" "NO YOURS SUCK" Is getting quite annoying. I actually have to skim through the arguing to find any real info which sucks because half the time I don't understand **** people are talking about because there is so much crap in between.
New Evoers like myself just want to learn. COMMUNITY? Y NO STOP ARGUING?!

I fell in love with the X and IX. Both are AMAZING machines, best of the best, and both excel in different areas. Like few other's, who actually think, have said before it's about the preference of the driver.
Honestly I don't see my self owning a X with out at some point buying a IX and vice versa. IMHO I want a X as WW and IX for AutoX.
Just my .02
Not an Automatic.

I perfer the looks of the Evo 9, but most people think the Evo 8/9 look more like a regular lancer, where as the Evo X stands out more.
I love my X because now that I'm a bit more mature I like my car to have Cruise Control, quieter interior and a more updated look so I don't look like a punk kid showing up to my company golf turnament.
GSR 5speed FTW BTW

Hahaha you rant about people sharing their opinions instead of facts and then you go on to give all of your opinions. Nice. My opinion is that I don't want a computer controlling my clutch. That is one advantage about the viii and ix for me. Go contradict yourself somewhere else thanks

Your opinion was "For the simple fact that I have not once thought "oh I wish my car was heavier and automatic."" followed by "In fact, when I'm on the freeway and spot a X I try and not make him feel bad by blowing his doors off."
That's great and all, but those are not actual facts. He provided an actual fact that was included an informative video. You were essentially just bashing the X.
I don't want to balance the scales here, but someone's post was a little more beneficial than the other.
I'd have to agree with Maz, maybe take those kinds of comments elsewhere.
I've used this topic a number of times to compare cars, talking about feeling bad for another Mitsu owner and not wanting to blow their doors off doesn't really
anyone.(On topic, I'll be moving into a 2010 X GSR in the new few weeks, gave up on finding a non bagged/light modded/low mile 8/9 a long time ago)
Kill the hate
see that's funny because I find this to be completely opposite of my own opinion. There are virtually no similarities between a '06 lancer and an '06 evo, but with the new Evo's I think they look just like lancers... they don't stand out as Evo's (IN MY OPINION)

If this a thread about facts I can just copy and paste the two different stat charts I find on Wikipedia and we can all call it a day (Sunshine). The comment about the x's being slower was over the top. My apologies. I just don't get excited when I see one on the freeway was my point.
Hold on a minute.

BUT like nerdbotSKRA said Let's quit the
on
crime and help each other out here we are a community after all
I agree honestly. I think the 06' lancers and Evo's have less similarities BUT with that said I feel like its the opposite. I'm in Dubai right now and I always get excited when i'm driving by and then go "oh just a lancer". I've only seen a total of 7 Evo's out here though.
