Evo X vs. Evo VIII and IX
I appreciate your answer. I guess we just have different priorities. In response to your last claim, the price gap between a X and 8/9 is massive compared to the price gap of an 8 and 9. What I'm getting at is that a 600whp evo 9 is the same price as a 230whp evo X.
Like you said, it comes down to different priorities. For me, it's a looks-thing. I'm 28 and the days of the Fast and Furious are over (even if they keep making the movies, they're obviously no longer about the cars). I don't like the eco-box look-- I appreciate it, but it's not for me. I love the way the Evo X looks and I like knowing it has a lot of technological advancements-- like cruise control and full MIVEC timing-- that previous iterations did not and that have become par-for-the-course on modern automobiles, particularly one I intend to own for the next decade or more.
lol i still like the looks of the ix best.. followed maybe by the iv, but i guess i just like the econobox look. i've seen pics of the 8/9 without the wing but its just off - the wing kind balances out the profile of the car. for me the 10 looks kinda large
kinda makes me laugh when people refer to f&f talking about our cars.. basically normal sedans + a wing.. as if they're driving a 3 series or something under the radar themselves

I've got enough out of the X that I now wish I could just move that to a lighter car. I owned an IX and daily drove it for years. Now same with my X.
I want the X suspension and stiffness, combined with the 4B11T and the revised-X 5 speed on a smaller car. I can only imagine how my IX would have been with the quick-spool of the 4B11T twin-mivec and a better frame.
I still like them both though and can't wait to see what the XI brings.

But half as reliable, because a car like that will have been beat on plenty in its past, and twice as likely to have something go catastrophically wrong, as there's just no way to guarantee the craftsmanship on all the work it takes to get the 9 up to 600whp...

When we first get in the car it will be practically brand new. Shep stage 3 everything, brand new build motor, brand new turbo kit, and a chassis that has seen only 16k miles. All for just a tad more than we would have paid for a X out the door.
So anyway I just thought I would clarify that this will be a brand new build. Not something someone three together in their garage 6 years ago. I don't know of this will change your stance or not, but thought I would get the facts straight first.
My original post was in regards to an Evo 9 that had 16,000 miles on the chassis. We are pulling the motor and getting an extremely reputable shop to build it from the ground up.
