Local Ford dealer called and offered me RS: $5K markup.
Delivery April.

Everybody plays games these days, so the $42K car is suddenly $47K car, and add tax and license and you are north of $50K.
Wow.

Perhaps someday the market will become more realistic, but I think for at least 1 year we'll see few RS Focuses here, and all sold to those that "must have" at any price.

Its insulting to be asked for $5K mark up frankly, from the one who represents manufacturer and is supposed to sell at MSRP.

This isn't 1994.

Look at the Focus ST depreciation rates. I'd imagine since the RS is a limited model it will be less so as well.

Mitsubishi dealers are doing the exact same thing with the Evo FE, but you can find them without markup.

VW did the same thing with the Golf R. I bought mine at invoice.

I may or may not have a RS with my name on it. With no markup.

You can't make general statements like this to discredit a car when the mitsubishi dealers do the same thing. You can't have it both ways.

The same exact thing happened in Canada when the Evo 10 came out. If you wanted a GSR, there was a markup of $5,000 and you had to put $5,000 down just to be granted the "privilege" of test driving the car. If you want an MR, the markup was $10,000. I don't see why it's an insult for a dealership, a private company, to respond to demand and increase the price of a car. God knows they're gonna sell them. The GTR was also marked up by a lot of dealers.

Just wait it out if the markup bothers you. The RS and Evo x FE will both fall to competitive prices within the year.

Paramus Mitsubishi has a ****load of FEs sitting on the lot right now. Theyre leasing them for $5k down $289 a month, 3 years, 10k miles, $27.5k buy at end.

i know seat is for VW a same as the Scion for the Toyota here.

but some how the seat is more focused on performance then the Golf. i am. guessing they tryed to keep a Golf more "high end" so in the way they lost some spirit what the Cupra has

I just drove a 270 HP, 1.6 litre turbo, focus sized 5 door hatch, FWD, that will, in the dry, outbrake any evo running stock sized brakes and any pad/disc combo, while not squealing one bit, and will probably outdrive a stock or slightly remapped evo on a twisty piece of dry tarmac, while using 40% less fuel..

I still like the evo better..

Yea totally, basically the difference between a normal impreza and a STi, same chassis, different bits and character.

I drove a friends normal Seat Cupra years ago and it felt exactly like a GTi. I would imagine a Cupra R would be more like a Golf R or maybe even better.

Right, good thing people aren't asking $50k for Mitsubishi Lancers, that would be AHHAHA SO DUMB!!

Again, people in this thread that are using every little bit of BS to discredit the car, you cannot have it both ways.

But razorlab, that's an Evo. We all know the same rules don't apply. Stop getting in the way of mindless hate with things like facts.
