Focus RS
internet is dangerous for ineevitable spread of false half info..
from FIA WRC technical rule book:
"Front/central/rear differentials
Only the housings and mechanical limited slip differentials
homologated in the WRC extension may be used (without any
modification).
"Mechanical limited slip differential" means any system which
works purely mechanically, i.e. without the help of a hydraulic or
electric system.
A viscous clutch is not considered to be a mechanical system.
Any differential with electronic management is prohibited. The
number and the type of the plates are free."
so.. mechanical plate diffs only.... central diff is there of course..

"A center differential that drives the car forward or backward is not permitted by the regulations. However, a separating clutch may be built into the rear axle differential. This interrupts the power flow on the rear axles and enables the Polo R WRC to turn on a hairpin using the handbrake (seventh heaven for drifting fans)." https://www.rallytheworld.com/en/pol...ch-talk-4-wins
"As of 2006, active front and rear differentials, which used electronic control units to vary locking characteristics, were no longer allowed in competition, and this was followed by a ban on active centre diffs in 2010. The system now allowed consists of front and rear mechanical differentials, with a manually operated centre clutch to disengage the rear prop shaft (for use when the driver operates the handbrake to initiate turn-in)."https://www.highpowermedia.com/blog/...-transmissions

I think it's pretty awesome the RS is only approx 150lbs heavier than the ST.

P.S. I hate the RS's part-time awd system too.
