eh i won't get into some arguement over the srt-4...
it's a fast car, no doubt about it... esp for the money you pay... but it's still a neon at the end of the day. some people haven't had a single problem with neon's and some people have... i won't get into the reliability issues of the car... but i've known a few people that have had quite a few problems. so that being said... whatever. as for the srt-4 vs evo... it all comes down to the driver.

Its a neon??? So what dude
Half the people here drive a car only because they think its gotta be a rally car since it shares part of a name with one. If there was no Evo, I bet there would as many people modding it as there are modding a protege or a corolla.
oh, sorry you got the Oz rally, my bad those cosmetic changes really make it rally. Your friends in your car will be laughing and saying "Its a neon" when it tears you a new ******** on the street.
Its cheaper than the Evo 8, so I not suprised that it needs to be modded to match it.
Your pretty closed minded if you just say its a neon, just shows u that you prob don't even deserve or respect your evo.

Everyone knows that straight lines aren't the Evo's forte. The SRT puts down about as much to the wheels and weighs less. Not to mention the drive has as much to do with any race as the cars themselves. At any rate...believe it or don't, but the reality of it is they run very similar 1320's stock...nothing suprising imo.

Actually, I think the Evo is somewhat impressive in straight line performance. AWD launches hard as hell. How many cars do you see cracking 1.8 and lower 60 foots on street tires?
But yeah, gotta give credit where credit is due. SRT4 is a fast car.
So where is this dude with the blue Evo that got spanked by the SRT4?

i have yet to see an SRT4, cause my local dealer still does not have them...
i'll give it props for the power it puts down for the price you pay... but at the end of the day it's still an unreliable Neon... I know from experience... my wife had a Neon and it was the biggest POS we ever owned...
traded that thing in for a Honda CRV 2 years ago, and never looked back...

I wish the guy would post some damn video of this match up. I can't get enough video of seeing our cars go!!!! I live on Staten Island, NY and I've yet to see an Evo VIII with my own eyes. My dad said he saw one on Easter Sunday in silver, but I also do quite a bit of driveing 7 days a week and still haven't seen one. Believe it or not today I was on the West Shore Expressway rt440 and saw the red Lotus Elise that was at the NY International Auto show being transported by Kent Mororsports based out of NJ. Unless it's going to a customer which I would highly doubt.
I'm suprised you haven't seen an Evo yet. The day after I got mine, I was driving through Staten Island, and a silver one pulled next to me.
I drive a red one, and I drive through Staten Island about every other day, from the Outerbridge Crossing to the Verrazanno.

and this is where i jump in "eventhough you see lancer panels it doesn't mean a lancer is an evo this is their rally super star and alot of their general productions are based from that ,example =the basic lancer .don't be confused.
however a a srt-4 is a hyped up neon .chass. is the same .the evo is alot more than that example awd, full aluminum suspension ,wider wheel base...........do i need to go on ,there is a big difference.

ALWAY BEEN AN EVO LOVER
I am an Evo owner, and some of U guys are gonna hate me for this, but the Evo is as much a Lancer as the SRT4 is a Neon. Don't get me wrong, both the Evo and SRT4 aren't standard Lancers and Neons, but both their roots are ****ty. They are both hyped up cars built on an econobox chassis.
My sister has her friend's Lancer OZ here, and I was in it. Yes, it's a different feel and all (just sitting in it), but the dashboard, body, pedal placement and all that good stuff is the same as my Evo.
I feel it's wrong for people to look down at the SRT4 and say "it's still a Neon"...... because the Evo is "still a Lancer".
My $0.02.
