I used to do advertising for dealerships in my area and saw it all first-hand. They are all shady and will take advantage of every single customer they get.
I'm glad to see this particular dealership was pressured into doing the right thing. I get their side of it, though.. that car would bring in a ton of foot traffic. But they messed up, so suck it up.
I bet someone got absolutely reamed.

As much as we like to complain about dealer markups they are simply the result of supply and demand. Which is a guiding principle of capitalism.
If someone else is willing to pay more for a product, why should you get it for less?
manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP)

MSRP is similar to "list" price when buying parts. No one sells parts over list price. MSRP is suggested in that it can be sold less. Mark up is retarded. Ask all the dealers with FoRS's sitting on the lot still with a $10k mark up.

Fact remains dealers markup cars whenever they think the market will bear it. It is accepted business practice. In your parts example, are you considering rare/hard to find parts. Try restoring an old car and try to pay list price. Products are worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Or would you sell me your evo for KBB value?

As has been stated before, I wonder how the OEM's feel about dealers adding money for a car they worked on for years to meet performance and pricing requirements. If they wanted the car to sell at $40k, it would probably be a much different vehicle.

I don't mind the rear's not being Brembo's, but I'd at least like to see a fixed caliper. looks pretty lame having a fixed caliper in front and sliding caliper in the rear.
I don't know if its even a K series anymore, it seams different enough that it could be a different engine now, but then again it could just be a modified K. I'm still annoyed that only the exhaust cam has the extra VTEC lobe...

The Civic Type R beat the Focus RS without the Cup2s based on objective numbers (with the obvious caveat of differing conditions on different test days) except for the AWD launch advantage.
Braking, skid pad and even trap speeds were impressive.
I would love to see some comparison tests on road courses.
