Having a modern, 3.0L 6-cylinder turbo car available to us is great. It's too bad they're trying to lock down the tuning aspects, but it's understandable given the target audience.
It's kind of funny to read all of the relative speed comparisons in this thread. kaj's Evo feels quicker than the GT350R. The GT350R measures slightly faster than the 2021 Supra in instrumented tests. Meanwhile razorlab's Supra feels faster than his 500+whp Evo.
But they're all slower than a 911 Turbo. If only those were a little bit cheaper.
Lol, I never said the Supra is faster than my Evo was. I said it feels like it has more lateral grip than both my Evos. My evo 10 would have annihilated this car power wise. My Evo 10 would pull (and had many times on track) on the same 911 turbo that annihilated my supra.
Either way, my Evo 10 is gone now. I no longer own any Mitsubishi automotive product. I'm excited to see the potential my Supra has as I get more comfortable in it.
Actually the M2 weights more! @3600lbs vs 3515lbs (according to quickie google search)...so I stand corrected!
Only BMW would find a way to make a smaller car weight more... :-/ lol!
I've seen M2 curb weights specified as anywhere from 3400 to 3600 lbs depending on the trim and transmission.
Recent M3 models (G80) are in the 3800-3900 lb range. The older F80 was similar in weight to the M2, though.
Remember back when we all thought the GTR was unreasonably heavy? Now it seems like everything is closer to 4000lbs than 3000lbs. Really glad that Toyota gave us a small car option with the Supra.
@kaj Once the manual Supra hits showroom floors, you should be able to scoop up a used auto for pretty cheap! Maybe even a new one since "everyone" says they are going to buy a manual.
I think you should drive one if you haven't. It's the best auto I have driven, including DCT's. I actually prefer it over DCT because it's smooth in normal driving, not clunky.

I think that is probably the reason most manufacturers have moved away from the DCT/DSG style transmissions back to automatics....better overall drivability and also, less maintenance//headaches down the road....
Also sounds like Toyota has done some other nice tweaks to the car along with the transmission option...too bad ECU isnt tunable

I was HOPING for this... but I just don't think I'll be that lucky. I'm sad to say it, but I don't think it will take off the way we think it should LOL
I still have my out for one in yellow, though!
