Although I have to admit the urge to at least flash the ECU after getting annihilated by that 911 turbo. :P
Ah, gotcha! Smart. Not to derail but I've been tempted to look at the Supra or an F80 M3 to replace my Evo X that I bought brand new in 2011. Thanks for sharing your journey and increasing the temptation to look into getting a Supra!

Yea, it's been hard but this is the first car I have owned that I didn't tune within a month of purchasing. A couple I have literally flashed in the dealer parking lot, lol.

Love the looks of the F80 M3. In my opinion, the B58 in the Supra sounds wayyyy better than the F80 S55.

I'd get an M2 over an M3 by a mile if you really want an M car....unless you need a bigger/bloated platform...

Yeah for whatever reason every F8X M3/4 I've heard with aftermarket exhaust just does not sound good at all...just bad all around. Esp when compared to the V8 car before it...

@razorlab - Only reason why I'd consider getting an F80 is because I have a little guy I might have to transport around occasionally. Otherwise, it would probably be a supra or an older p car.

@Crzykdd - I like the M2 but aside from having to transport a little guy around, I'd probably choose a Supra over an M2 from a $$$ perspective (Initial cost, maintenance, etc.).

The M2 weighs the same as the M3 if you can believe it.

3,6XX lbs for both.

Definitely something to consider if it's your only car. The Supra is small with not much interior space. I was spoiled with how much stuff I could pack into the Evo for track days. I could fit four 18x10.5 wheels with 275 tires. A jack, two plastic bins, four five gallon gas jugs, a helmet, backpack and a toolbox. The supra I am lucky to fit one plastic bin and a jack. hahah.

I cart my 3.5 year old around all the time in my Supra, like today. You cant use that as an excuse!

Also finally lowered mine and got it aligned. Ready to go for my next track day!

Okay, but hear me out: If you did start approaching this limit you could keep up with that 911 Turbo...

F8X M3 & M4 don't sound good because the exhaust is not equal length due to the two turbos on one side In-Line 6 S55 engine. Active Autowerke sells a equal length mid-pipe to make it sound better.

Haha. I have a 11 month old. So I have at least 1+ years until I could do this.

Yeah, this would be a challenge. My wife and I have a 2017 A4 that can be used for child duty. So, I guess I just need to stop making excuses outside of the world exploding economically.

Haha, not really a road I want to go down again. That said, it's silly how little mods make huge gains on this platform. There was another Supra at the track this weekend that I was chatting with, he had a Pure800 turbo upgrade (think FP style oem housing comp/turbine upgrade style), a downpipe and a tune making 520whp on 93 octane. That is basically what my Evo 10 was putting down with it's track tune and five million mods.

Having 50% more cylinders is N I C E. On a semi-related note, for a fun comparison, my Evo makes basically the same WHP as my 350R. I don't have quite so much into the Evo so I'm a bit surprised. Yay e85 on an FI car. It definitely explains why the Evo feels faster.
It's weird to see how cars can be so different but also so similar.

Having a modern, 3.0L 6-cylinder turbo car available to us is great. It's too bad they're trying to lock down the tuning aspects, but it's understandable given the target audience.

It's kind of funny to read all of the relative speed comparisons in this thread. kaj's Evo feels quicker than the GT350R. The GT350R measures slightly faster than the 2021 Supra in instrumented tests. Meanwhile razorlab's Supra feels faster than his 500+whp Evo.

But they're all slower than a 911 Turbo. If only those were a little bit cheaper.
