Mk V Supra - My Evo's Replacement?
What are they doing exactly? Simply unlocking the ECU for tuning and how would that work for folks in California come smog time...? I guess those would be my concerns really....support and if you needed to flash back and forth between stock tune and upgrade.
They are cloning the ECU and putting it into an unlocked version. You get your old ECU back as well so "technically" it's still okay to use for smoggy time. I don't live in California anymore so I don't have to stress about that crap anymore. :P
If you get two ECUs, then nothing to worry about. That does sound nice. Pricey.... but nice. But now I also see why it's so expensive. I'm sure them ECUs ain't cheap. Add to that, being the only game in town....
good used ecus can be had from $600-800. Not the cheapest thing. But the 3k gets you all the cloning work done, clone ecu provided by them, full ecutek license with tuning cable and shipping. In reality, you are paying around $700-800 to do the actual unlock.
Of course, 100% if I were to sell the GT350 and buy this, Toyota would then decide to import the GR Yaris to the States.

I'm going to let others do it first. I actually can't really see how it could get any better in manual sport mode. It shifts instantly and very hard already.
I'm thinking it tweaks more around auto mode in comfort and sport, which I have literally never used so far in the Supra. lol

when I auto-x, it doesn't downshift to 2nd when I want it to while in auto. If I could change that, I would love it. One less thing to think about while dodging cones if it does exactly what I want by itself. But like you said, I'll let other people be the test victims first.
