Finally installed my seat and harness, no more sliding around...
Then I sat in my garage and stared at it, waiting for my next track day tomorrow...
How funny that you mentioned this. I did a track day last weekend and in my first session I thought no big deal I'll just use my seatbelt. I found myself gripping the wheel, using my knee, the dead pedal, whatever I could find. It was horrible LOL never again.
Also, I highly prefer my ASM HANS harness to the five-point in the evo. It is so much easier to get in and out of. I'm actually thinking about swapping it LOL

I literally have bruises on my back from track days in the Supra. The oem seats suck so bad on track. Plus the top of the OEM seats bend so far forward it hits my helmet and I feel like I have to drive hunched over which doesn't help. Looking forward to the track day tomorrow without having to hang on for dear life.

I feel you when you say you feel hunched over with a helmet on. Its quite annoying. Besides that, for auto-x at least, I dont find the factory seats too bad.
Cusco 6 point ftw much easier to adjust than the schroth crap.
My legs are still sore from trying to hang on from previous track day without harness in my exige 424whp exige.

My ASM Profi harness has two parts that snap together. It's like putting on an old school lap belt. Pretty neat.

is there space to mount the race seat lower than OEM? And how tall are you?
In other news, I finally sold my Bug after nearly 10 years of owning it. This is the 3rd car I have sold this year! Crazy. Still have one or two more to go. I think it might be time to start going crazy on the Supra now.
Any ECU issues with the airbag equipped seat not being plugged in?
No issues. Just a little light on the dash for airbag restraint system malfunction. I bought another OEM female seatbelt receptacle so I can use the oem seatbelt on drives to/from the track so that operates like normal still.
In the ongoing chronicles of me re-learning how to drive again with a RWD vehicle, had my third day at Lime Rock Park today. First day there in the dry. Last two events where in the 30/40's and pouring rain. Today was 70/80's and dry.
Also my first event where I turned off traction control by one click. The supra has two stages of traction control. I have to be honest I almost felt like giving up and going back to AWD and then today after turning off traction control by one click I fell in love with the car again. It was 500% more drivable for me. It allowed me to actually have some slip angle. Before it would do all this weird crap that felt sketchy. Having the bucket seat, harness and HANS also made me more confident and allowed me to feel what the car was doing wayyyy more.
I still have a ton of time left, as you can see in the video here, but again, literally my first time on this track in the dry. I've become friends with another supra owner with a 21 (40 more whp than mine), KW coilovers, Verus Aero and Maxxis 100tw rc1 tires is putting down 0:58 laps, about what GT4's do here. I think you can see from the video my supra is probably capable of 1:02's if not 1:00's in the current config. I just need more seat time in the car and more laps here.
It was BEAUTIFUL at the track today. It reminded me of California actually.
A few years ago, I took a 2017 Camaro 1LE to VIR and did my first session with the TC on. The car felt really numb, though I never really felt the TC "kick in." My next session, I turned it off and suddenly it responded like a normal car and was much more fun to drive. It was looser but in a good way, not a scary way. While the common wisdom is to recommend that students keep the TC on and then later turn it off when they get more experience, I think it might be better for newbies to build speed with TC off so that they can actually learn their car's handling traits at lower speeds and then work their way up.
